  1. I take my bw key with me wherever I go, by boat, car, bike or shank's pony. Do I also need a pair of swinging cork balls to avoid interrogation by the poopee patrol? I also have a radar key, being a gentleman of a certain age, when I gotta go, I gotta go. Personally I have no issue with anyone using the facilities as long as they leave them clean and tidy. The extra flush is hardly likely to wear out the porcelain. Imho any horrendously clarted up facilities I've encountered have been caused by careless boaters.
  2. BTW, it was a joke! Stony ground?
  3. Probably a typo😉 As for the latter pair, one is weasily distinguished, t'other stoatally different .
  4. Judicious use of sharp knife on a plastic milk bottle creates a handy container with handle. The older the gentleman the bigger the required milk bottle!
  5. Interesting perspective on the issue from New Civil Engineer https://share.google/q79I4T0UfNUYKw4xP
  6. We had no trouble at all going in and out.
  7. The dock is no longer managed by calderdale, it went out to tender, the company is on that price list. Last time I used it it was around. £350 per week. Probably pre COVID.
  8. Of course it was only ever a Short Arm. It's in Yorkshire tha' knows.
  9. On the LnL near Chorley. https://www.lep.co.uk/news/emergency-incident/man-suffers-horror-leg-injury-after-jumping-into-canal-to-save-dog-5142793?fbclid=IwY2xjawKetC5leHRuA2FlbQIxMQABHlm633QC9VzNuU1OQmP-23TmfvCRx0Gx5y5YKOBajU2f6pchV90fJzX-x_sk_aem_WKmsTNuyCU6b8gXAV9W91A
  10. A lick of contract white Matt emulsion, sell it down that there londonland for a few paving stones , there's your annuity!
  11. skipped 8 pages, might read it on the train later, The NBTA will know, try their FB page.
  12. Hmm usual pointless arguements and nit picking pedantry, 1st post clearly said cat was in basket when taken. Get a grip. Hope the cat turns up. Dons tin hat. Should I have put an apostrophe in there somewhere?
  13. What if they are all placed in vertically?
  14. All well and good, but will it use more water floating in a lock?
  15. That's a lot of effort and typing to get it wrong, Google 20 ft aluminium scaffold pole and it's 10.6kg. More time for boating. Anyway nothing is decided till Ian has spoken!
  16. Soused in vodka, they make good firelighters.
  17. I have soft shackles, self spliced, from a length of 10mm hollow braid found in t'cut. Not snapped one yet though I often use bollard as a brake. http://www.balancecommunity.com/slack-science/comparison-soft-shackle-methods/ A line on each side from a large shouldered eye bolt on roof. No fairleads , 35ft NB. I have an eye centre gunnel each side. Useful for quickly mooring up for lunch or even overnight if calm, I just clip line to gunnel eye with a carabiner so there's no pull on the roof to tip the boat.
  18. I of noticed that too.
  19. With free tapas too. A tip, I don't take well to daytime alcohol, found that if you order grape juice sans alcohol you still get tapas, at least in Andalusia.
  20. When I fitted my boat out I'd seen a long throw bolt lock common on double front doors in Spain, I bought one while visiting my brother. Turns out they are called Cays Locks or gate locks here. I've since bought them here for gates and my shed. The difference is that the local ones have a key both sides, the Spanish ones just a button to open from inside. I got several spares cut on a further visit to spain, they are long, as those in the pictures.
  21. Yeh but it must be galling when only the whinge is quoted, not the loaded one🤣🤣🤣🤣
  22. I fitted a rudder plate, standard aluminium variety. Prop wash bent it!
