  1. I think this post says more about boater sam than it does about anything else, but I can understand his concern, as a man who needs to have half the forum on ignore he's obviously a little fragile when I comes to other people's opinions.

  2. Hi guys.... I 'm here! ..... so I finally arrived, and before you say it, yes it is a bit cooler (about 36 degrees cooler!), but I have bought a scarf to wear with my tanga! I am very happy to be back home and have even managed to open a bank account. I have also already bought a boat that I am very pleased with. I have bought the nb Hosanna with a very good offer and deal from Whilton Marina. I won't go into details other than to say that I was very happy with the reception and deal that I was offered and I was very happy with the quality of service from the moment I arrived. The boat is undergoing a full independent survey and is at this moment being "blacked" with a two part epoxy resin. I'm hoping to move on board sometime around 10th February, so if you are anywhere in or near Whilton marina then please come calling and let me offer you a drink. I will be changing the name of the boat from Hosanna to "GayZing" as soon as I can get the old name painted out, so keep your eyes open. Please keep in touch as I'm sure I will need to ask you many more questions and for your valuable advice in the near future..... and I look forward to meeting lots of new friends. Wishing you all a great day... Neil Ps. Photos will follow soon..

  3. I don’t really agree with all the old fossils on here telling the OP he must pretend to be something he isn’t. That is what caused the problem in the first place. We have from time to time flown a rainbow flag and it has never been an issue. As to the name, the average homophobic grunt is barely literate and probably doesn’t understand the difference between gazing and gayzing. His sexuality is obviously important to the OP so he should be able to declare it if he wishes and not have to hide it in a closet to keep a bunch of dinosaurs happy. And before you croak out “Yes but WE don’t need to declare our sexuality” I would remind you that the world is full of heterosexuality declarations, you just don’t notice them. If I had a quid for every time some presumptuous numpty asked me how my (nonexistent) wife and kids were, I’d be very rich. It is quite irritating. Presumably if we have a black or Asian boater, the advice will be to put on white foundation makeup and have those big lips / slitty eyes surgically altered to look “english” for fear of some racism.

  8. Even though the OP is new to the canals he is a gent of retirement age who has been gay his whole life I'm not sure he needs us to warn him about much, (is straightsplaining a thing? I don't know) I suspect this is not his first rodeo.

  10. Thats a bit unfair. The cut is a mostly tolerant place and that's maybe why it has more than its fair share of "non standard" people of all types. The Op is new to the cut and its fair and reasonable to warn him that some bits of the canal go through places where the locals are less open minded and tend to throw stones at anything that they don't understand. I would give a similar warning to people with an expensive shiny boat with an extensive flower garden on the roof, its sort of putting two fingers up at the poor locals living in horrible housing estates....."look how lovely my life is compared with yours". ..........Dave

  13. Without canals we love our heritage lumpy water boats. Like any old wooden boat a huge amount of work but they are treasures. Some photos from, and of, the wining yacht. 1894 Auckland Robert Logan design and built 58ft LOD, 74ft over the spars No winches, all block and tackle' gaff rigged cutter A6 Waitangi from a warm 27deg Auckland Don

  20. My PCBs arrived today. I am still mightily impressed to get 5 PCBs manufactured to my own design and shipped from China, all for £2. Let’s hope i didn’t get a free gift of coronavirus! the bit bottom left is to be cut off and mounted near the batteries, for the purpose of fusing the battery feeds to the board.

  21. There is a great joke in there but I had to delete if for fear of upsetting the dinosaurs.

  22. Unless it is a (formerly tatty looking) grey widebeam (with no recent hull survey) painted white on the inside... in which case the whole forum can join in glorious harmony roundly condemning the colour scheme/boat as a whole as 'London' and peace will reign on the forum for seconds at a time. :-)

  23. Bye bye! In the near-words of Arnie, “You’ll be back!” (Probably as in “back to the wall, these poofs are everywhere. And don’t mention the soap!”)

  24. So just to be clear, the dinosaurs are quite happy to have a few poofs and lezzers on the cut, just so long as they keep it quiet. Well that is very magnanimous of them!

  32. Party pooper! Eejuts will always be eejuts. They'll find something. I say, be proud of who you are and cover your boat with rainbows if you wish. If we all stay timid, the eejuts win.

  41. Let me ask you something Nick and its a genuine question of someone who's entertaining and Informative Posts I have enjoyed for many Years . We have a new Member who has turned up on this Forum and the first thing he does is make everyone aware of his Sexuality , in fact some People would infer that its being used almost as his Validation . I dont know why that is though I must admit to finding it peculiar . Imagine for instance the hilarity that would ensue if someone joined the Forum as Heterosexual John , the first thing People would think is why has he felt the need to mention that fact and who cares anyway ? Looking further the Member concerned apparently thinks that " Strait " Men are there in order to make more gay ones ?? A flippant comment perhaps but doubtless some will raise an eyebrow . Now to the question I was going to ask you , how would it be interpreted if I used a Picture of Carole Vorderman for my Avatar and then put a strap line at the foot of my Profile " making Gay Men straight everywhere " I should think I would be verbally lynched and slung off the Forum .

  45. I would re-think the name for your own safety, the world does not need to know. Tolerance only goes so far, we all know religion exists but not many people look forward to a knock on the door on a Sunday morning to tell you all about their imaginary friend.
