  1. The best known 'trading' company is of course Alan Michael Sugar Trading abbreviated to AMSTRAD. I suggest this new company needs a similar name. Perhaps PILLOCKTRAD.

  5. Always glad to help! Answering your question about me not liking narrowboats, I suppose it's for the same reasons you don't like widebeams "I just really don't like the look of them". Also, not sure if you noticed but widebeams also come with "many different shapes, outlines, styles" As for OP sorry for OT, it's the last time.

  6. Oh! Won't somebody think of the poor boats! What will happen to the boats now! Who will love them and care for them! Will they be split up, loaned out, left to rot? SO tragic! Really, though? Big picture, priorities, seriously.

  7. Not everyone. I feel the sentence is far too light but remain absolutely opposed to capital punishment.

  8. Sorry about this but I can't resist. Would it be true to say that if owners ignore the recall, they will be "dyson with death"?

  9. Could I just point out that 1GW is a billion watts (109), not a million (106). You are out by a factor of 1000. I do hope you haven't made the same error in the relative costs of wind turbines and conventional (or nuclear) power stations. Somehow I don't quite trust your arithmetic.

  10. It is possible that all the nay-saying stems from most peoples' previous experience of large capacitors. I'm now guessing that 'super' doesn't mean 'large'. It might mean 'large but safely managed', or similar. It is also true that it can't rise above battery voltage if it's connected across one, so therefore it isn't going to be dangerous. As in smoothing capacitors in rectifiers, for example. Go try it. Might be the new eng starting system one day, although I can't personally think I'd ever need it. Good luck with it. Keep us informed!

  11. I was going to comment on this earlier, but didn't want to admit to going over to the far side. However what Mr Johnson seems to be missing is that, as I understand it, there are no official liveaboard moorings at P.L. Perhaps he should keep his head down rather than attacking others. NBW's constant siding with P L is losing them a lot of credibility, or at least of what credibility they had left, over their reporting of the marina's woes.

  12. I have never had the problem you describe, but if I did have I am wired simply through a 1,2 switch so I could use that. George ex nb Alton retired

  13. I would like you to justify that reply. I do not believe that you know anything about the subject. You certainly do not know anything about me or my capabilities, qualifications or skills.

  14. Well yes. They do produce energy - just! At the time of writing their contribution to the national grid is an average of 189 watts per installed turbine.

  15. Personally I think it is pretty clear that wind farms are a complete waste of taxpayers' money. The current contribution by wind power to the National Grid as I type this is 0.88 GW, or a mere 2.05% of the total UK demand of 43 GW. We are currently importing more 'leccy from Holland (1GW or 2.33%) than all those windmills put together! According to Wikipedia we already have 5,276 wind turbines with a theoretical output capacity of over ten gigawatts. However our political masters seem to have decided that we need these monuments to green stupidity, so if we are buying them anyway, I would rather they were built in Britain.

  17. It's a boating forum. People are interested in boats. It is possible to be disgusted with the individual and interested in the fate of the boats at the same time.

  20. Haha good OLD dog house... The only post that is no contribution whatsoever hehe keeping up! I have got a Collingwood. Good value but wouldn't recommend as dealing with them was a true nightmare (specially post customer service and guarantee repairs).

  21. That is truly a brilliant comparison, 13.6 Kw/Hours to be produced by my power making bits n bobs would take ages to produce CCing. I'm guessing I can produce Probably 120 /140 Amps/ Hour Max. (EG if my invertor was on,while Cruising, kicking my Twin 100a Alternators into work) So Free ish pwr . So we could also make the comparison 13.6 kw/ Hours = Ages of Enjoyment CCing= Pricless !.

  22. I think that's a very difficult one to answer with any accuracy, Because the range would be so arguable, let alone the convenience factor. My Guess - Anything from Free because I'm cruising, to I'm guessing .60 or .80p a day to run a generator for a bit if CCm in the depths of winter !.
