As one of the ones who was happy to plod along at a couple of mph I could never understand the motives of my fellow snails who refused to pull over to let folk pass. Never being in a rush I found bunging it into the bank occasionally to let someone overtake was a good excuse to make a coffee or roll a fag.

Yes it's definitely a lottery winning boat. There isn't really any need for a big outboard on the little boats I mentioned. 15-40hp should be adequate, especially if 10 knots is as fast as they want to go. Mine does 8 knots (or 12 going downhill) and is more than enough to get me around the bit of the South Coast I cover.

I really want a Hardy Commodore...Unfortunately I'm £400k short.

Hardy (Navigator, Pilot, Fisher etc) all Hardys are superb boats. All of these are very capable little boats and can be found in good order for less than your budget.

After lack of use the springs inside the female half often seize, dislodge or snap. You can buy new ones from J Clarke Marine.

I'm not sure where you get your figures from but if that boat stayed where it is in Weymouth (not a cheap marina) then they would pay £4069.80 a year. If they wanted to compromise on facilities then they could get a berth for around £1500 or even less.
