THE BATCHWORTH BOAT RALLY, RICKMANSWORTH May 17
THE BATCHWORTH BOAT RALLY, RICKMANSWORTH

This rally was started in 2024 when at very short notice the huge Rickmansworth Festival was cancelled. The Waterspace team decided to keep the boat gathering but as a much smaller event. With some enthusiastic parters it was a huge success in 2024.

So Next year as an appropriate "Theme" for the times we are Calling all GUCCCo, FMC, Severn & Canal boats.particularly those built in 1935 as next year the Batchworth Boat Rally would like to see them all gathering at Batchworth in Rickmansworth to celebrate their 90 years.
The rally will take place on 17/18th May, two weeks after the cavalcade at Little Venice.
Please put the date in your calendar for next year and drop us an email then we will make sure to include you on the mailing list when bookings open in January.

Absolutely agree, if the OP has at least a grand to spare. If not, solar is a lot cheaper... 😉 Better still -- do both! 😁

Yes of course, but is still seems a bit crappy of the forum software not to accept standard iPhone format photos. On the other hand perhaps Apple is struggling to achieve any sort of market share and the forum software authors are not really aware of the brand yet...

This certainly sounds to me like a recipe for quickly wrecking any new LA battery bank you might fit. Now we know this I'm inclined to say fit a chunky LFP with a buffer LA and a B2B to protect the alternator.

I have to say, £45k strikes me as an insanely high price for that personality-free boat. I simply can't understand why you even went to look at it.

Spending a bit more to buy a boat that doesn't need major/expensive modifications will usually work out cheaper in the end, never mind the hassle -- unless you really enjoy DIY boat fitting and don't mind spending a lot of your own time doing it... 😉

300W of solar isn't much, even in the middle of summer that'll only give you about 1kWh/day on average (less at this time of year), and the fridge alone would consume more than half of that -- or most/all of it at this time of year. Especially if money is tight, more solar (plus an MPPT controller) is likely to be your best bet, before looking at expensive things like B2B chargers and LFP batteries -- panels are dirt cheap nowadays. What's filling up your roof, is there any way you can you make more space for panels?

That's my experience of summer and winter off grid power too. Summer, the B2Bs might as well not be installed, as they are not needed. I have them disabled by switches across the hi-lo terminals. January, I am fine with an average of one hour a day of engine running, which might be three hours every three days, or any combination and might be cruising, or not. However, in summer, a rainy day is like a good winter day. A run of several of them, traditional Wimbledon fortnight weather, could leave the Li batt very depleted and no alternative chsrging option.
