MtB
Well, after a weekend of rumours and a hectic closing down party, there has been confirmation tonight that The Admiral Nelson will continue to trade. The better news is that it will be a free house. The family who are the current tenants have negotiated a purchasae with Enterprise, it seems as sitting tenants they were able to get first refusal on the premises. They have had to work hard to sort out their finances but it should hopefully provide a better business for them and a better long term deal for the customers. Our support is now needed more thn ever. Well feckin 'ell, CONGRATULATIONS to them! We will patronise them all the more. Maybe they had this in mind all along, to have spent all that money renovating the plaice with just a six month lease. It didn't seem to ring true that they'd do that with no hope of staying more than 6 months.Pretty big gamble all the same. MtB

alan_fincher
Excellent news, just need someone to buy the New Inn now! And we were looking at the weekend at the sorry state that the boarded up White Lion at Marsworth has become. I'm not sure they want to save that one, and think it is probably another canal-side pub about to be lost for good.

We look forward even more to taking them there now Banter anyone?

john6767
Great news, very pleased that they have found a way forward which looks to have the possibility of putting a more stable business in place. Will certainly drop in when we are next in Braunston.
scrumpylurcher
It is the case thet the Nelson had been sold to another buyer, Stan, Pam and the family have in a short time raised the money/finance they needed to equal the offer made and as sitting tenants they got the deal. I suppose we could live in hope that the other purchaser may now consider the New Inn as an alternative, rumours are that they had looked at both these properties and they obviously have finance available. Keeping Up
It's only 30 miles for us to drive, so we'd definitely be up for a banter there (can't get there by boat at the moment)
sueb
We had a meal in the Admiral Nelson the other night and will be visiting again but giving the starters a miss. The main course was excellent but the starters consisted of a fair sized portion of meat or fish with half a dozen leaves. Less meat & a slice of bread or salad would have improved it. We didn't try a pudding as we were too full
