But at least it got us back to my moorings after we went aground, still not good and my boats not going anywhere until I can get it sorted, depending on cost I have a feeling I may have to work plenty of overtime :(

Some places sell second hand props, there is a place quite close to us on the broads that has a few or try http://www.bobknowles.demon.co.uk/ or http://www.boatsthames.com/enfield_prices.html

Yes there are some Rox on the bed of the Trent.

Bob Knowles as Ditchcrawler mentioned is the most well known on Enfield outdrives.

By the look of it,it was going astern that did it most damage,''no skeg protection''.

I'm pleased to note there's more than Bob Knowles supplying spares these days. Last time I visited his premises in Leicester, he escorted a friend and me off the premises, with a threat that if an order for the same parts came from elsewhere in the next couple of weeks, he's know it was us and wouldn't sell to them either. Nice chap to do business with.....

http://Steeldevelopments.net

do reconditioned and new props

What make is the outdrive and what engine?

They also repair

http://www.steeldevelopments.net/how-your-propeller-is-repaired.html

We always used them for the hire fleet for both bronze props and alloy outboard props. They can also re-bush props that use a rubber bush as a "sheer pin".

look on the bright side Roxy ,at least you didn't have to shell out to me and Fuzzy for recovery fees

and you saved yourself a fortune by not going to the banter, the charity auction for the chesterfield canal society raised tons, thanks to the donated genuine brooch, and floating nadger keyrings donated.

Neil, hope you feel better now, the stranded experience must have been stomach churning.

Not funny at all to be quite honest.....But thanks for your contribrution...

As you can tell Im not in a good mood at all...

Will check out the helpful links thanks to those you have taken the time to help

Cant see it clearly in the picture, but is the gear cable o.k.?

it is a good idea to disconnect the cable before winding the leg,the cable will cope with normal tilting and kick-up but will usually sustain damage on winding it up.

Dont say Ive done more damage now FGS!!!....

Thats all I need right now, what a shit end to 2011

Sorry to hear of your misfortune but if you are moored where I think you are I will be out there next week helping a friend with his boat.

Don't mind get my hands dirty (I usually do).

PM me if I can help.

Nick.

Yes I may need your help, I dont mind getting my hands dirty either/or getting wet (Im sure the river water is warmer than the shower I had at Sawley on Thursday!! BW I'll let you know if I get pneumonia) and need to learn, thing is its fairly deep where Im moored there is a slipway if I can drive my boat round to it (Short distance) if I can get to this then be pulled up backwards so that I/we can access the prop while boat is still in water would be ideal, but would I need permission off the marina to do this? Plus would I have to pay? I once saw a guy at Sawley doing the same thing when I was filling up with fuel

That prop looks repairable.

I use streamlined propeller repairs.co.uk.

Price sepends on size.

Earlier this year mine was £44 plus vat for a Honda BF15 prop that included return post.

Ihe service is excellent and fast.

A spare prop would be a good idea if you can find one.

Beeston Marina have a fair selection of used props.

Looking at the picture you shoud reach the prop if youre on a pontoon at Redhill.

If your moored in the parlour i`m sure Tom will assist.

Paul.

Having taken the trouble to drive to Leicester to enquire of Knowles about some Lister conversion parts we were met with a similar and equally unfriendly response.

It was his loss as we bought elsewhere but how do people with such appalling attitudes towards those who supply their bread and butter manage to stay in business?I despair of the British attitude towards customer relations. Avoid. Regards, HughC.

I suspect you on moored on the 'island' as opposed to the 'parlour' which is quiet shallow. Either way if you move to the slipway and start hauling your boat up then there may be a charge, might be worth having a word with alex in the office prior to doing this.

I don't want to speculate on best ways to work on prop area without being there, I will let you know when I am in the vicinity.

Nick.
