South Oxford Stoppages

We're off next week and we have conflicting news that there's a lock closed, or not.

We were heading down from Cropredy to the Thames for a while next week, but some intel on the problem would be good. Cant see mention of it here, but my wife's getting stuff on he phone saying it's closed with no suggestions of when it might be open. Sorry don't know the lock number but I am sure if its an issue some helpful bod on here will know!

Navigation remains closed until further notice.

Following the engineers condition assessment of the gate assisted passage is not a viable option.

We are working to deliver the repair of this damaged lock in the shortest possible timeframe.

Navigation closed until further notice due concerns for structural condition of top gate of lock 29.

Didn’t get a mail but theres plenty of pics and video on Facebook. Lock is drained with stop planks in, they reckon to get the metalwork tomorrow, speculation is Friday at the earliest before fix.

Suspect our planned trip to Oxford next week is scuppered! Does anyone have a more detailed idea of when the repairs to Lock 29 (Banbury) may be completed? All C&RT state is "Repairs are in progress". Also Lock 10 (Napton) was closed briefly this week for an inspection (blown cill, I think), no update from C&RT yet. Does anyone have any updates? Is it likely to close shortly?

Nine people in high vis standing by the lock this morning, hopefully some of them will finish the work today.

It's a great opportunity for those staff normally behind a desk who've never seen a canal, to put on some hi-vis, get out in nature, and give an empty lock a good coat of looking at
