New Narrowboating tv series

Dr Bob

Featured Posts

Looks like the bloggers 'Foxes Afloat' have done a deal with Amazon Prime and are staring in their own TV series which is available today......so Mrs Bob has just told me from reading her farcebook notifications this morning.

We seem to have gravitated to watching Foxes Afloat rather than Cruising the cut as it is funnier and they do move. May be worth a watch. Not a clue what time but will look later.

I'm finding both enjoyable and they have filled in many an hour of recent weeks.

I wonder if the Foxes will now pack their youtube vlogging in?

Arent programs on Prime just on demand? rather than at a specific time?

The snippet that Mrs Bob saw said that they would continue with their normal vlogging as well.

Of course, you are right. On demand. I'll try and watch it before the footy this evening.

There are at least a couple of things that do not work on the telly, I used to do a lot of fishing before I discovered real life and girls etc. and still have a bit of a dangle if there's nothing else to do but fishing on the telly? Waste of time. I still do a lot of boating but again, boating on the telly? Nah, I'd sooner hoover the house than watch that.

Perhaps familiarity breeds contempt? To the general telly-viewing public, canal boats are attractive and slightly exotic, and they go through pretty countryside, or through places steeped in history. So there are several ingredients which may make viewers taste the recipe.

Fisherman are (with, I'm sure, exceptions) less aesthetically pleasing.

Is this a wind up? You watch people bimbling about on their narrowboats? ? Bless..........

Well compared to some of the offerings that have been on tv recently

Eg

Todays coronvirus update

Britain in lockdown

Your weekly coronavirus update

Inside ITU during the pandemic

How long will lockdown last?

BAME people and coronavirus

When can kids go back to school after the pandemic?

Britain in a pandemic recession.

Pandemic this, pandemic that.

its been a welcome relief.

they are funny but too excited like puppies, I prefer the slow pace of the gentleman in cruising the cut. Also somebody posted here they were breaking covid 19 rules trying to be smart arses.

I think what they did was combine essential moving of the boat with cruising rather than staying put, moving for an essential journey and then returning.

Set against what the idiots gathering for mass protests and illeagal raves were up to it seems fairly benign to me. Though Im sure the 'Covid Stasi' wont agree.

Yes, they only moved when they needed to, for water and to get rid of their rubbish, the foxes are enjoyable to watch as they combine boating , humour and also throw in a fair bit of local history on their travels.

Not everybody will agree with this either, but I really like their boat too.

I haven't caught up with their latest vlog yet but as far as I could see before that they were obsessing about compliance and as a former media chap he will be all too aware of what happens if you break the rules in the public eye.

Nice colour but the windows are bloody awful.

I also think they were mistaken when the removed the cassette loo and replaced it with a composting loo. But then I've not ever had one so I don't really know either way if it's better than a cassette. They just couldn't face the emptying process.

The windows are interesting - they are bonded into the shell, not sure how common that is nowadays.. No screws, the style suits the boat IMHO but I can see why not everybody would like them.

True. I find their, very well made and edited, blog entertaining. There’s history being mentioned that I had no idea of. I confess that I did overdose somewhat when I first found out about them.

My windows don't have screws, aren't bonded and don't leak.  They clamp into place from the inside.

Just watched the first episode. Very much content for the general public rather than their normal format that they usually vlog. Colin does a good job though and you can see why Amazon signed him up. He is a natural - tv presenter that is.

Nice easy watch.

Each to their own. Personally I love watching things about boats, moreso now I've sold my boat and no longer have use of it.

Oi! How do you know if you dont watch it?

It's the cratch cover we hate ....and the pram cover - doesnt fold flat. The rest of the boat is fine.

It's a very pram like pram cover, modern and practical imho

I enjoyed watching Country House Gent in travels by Narrowboat but found I was eating through to much data just to watch what I could see out of my own window. Very sad watching the episode where he talks about being beaten up.

Very distinctive looking boat Aslan, pretty sure I won't cruise by it without noticing.

The one on the boat we have just sold folded flat in a minute, ie under the tiller. Their's takes a lot longer to put down and sticks up above the tilller. Prefer our design.
