  24. I weighed in four batteries at Daventry Non Ferrous Metals in 2022 and received just short of £50 by bank transfer. Take photo ID as said above. Unit 14 Everdon Park, Heartlands Business Park, Daventry, NN11 8YJ

  25. Just seen this post. Glad you’re sorted. I have the exact same model on my boat so it’s good to see there are still a few around. It took me quite a while to get my head around how mine worked and its relationship with the Victron and other electronics. In my case I switch to the travel power setting on the selector switch when cruising and it charges my leisure batteries via the Victron in the same sort of way as if I was plugged into a shoreline. It’s an odd setup on my boat which took me a long while to figure out. Historically, my travel power unit failed, according to the previous owner and was repaired by Cox’s. The telltale sign is the rivets on the box. Cox’s drill these out to open the unit and then replace them with self tappers once they’re done. Yours still has the rivets intact I notice - so it hasn’t needed any attention yet. Keep your fingers crossed! I endorse what people are saying about Ed Shiers. He gave me a lot of free advice over the phone when I first got the boat. He’s excellent.

  27. I used Foamalux ( foamed PVC, comes in sheet form and many colours) for the deck head lining in our shower cubicle. It has served well for a good few years. We used it at work for casings etc. for experimental scientific equipment. The material will warp round nicely (maybe a bit of heat) to make excellent linings for the port holes. Hope that helps John

  28. I think that I know what that pipe is, and I also think that you, or a previous owner, guessed it fitted onto the engine sump. Originally these engines would have been fitted with a brass oil drain pump with a three-way valve on the bottom so you could select Gearbox, engine, or OFF. Your pipe went to the gearbox connection and another one that screwed onto the fitting by the MOWOG lettering went to the engine connection on the valve. So not a breather, but an oil drain pump pipe. If you took the fitting on the engine out you would find that it has a vertical tube fitted to it to reach almost to the bottom of the sump. FWIW, I think that I can also see the distributor drive gear, which will be lubricated by gearbox oil. There appears to be a partition as part of the flywheel housing that probably carries an oil seal. That is one mystery solved. I am now sure that it is an A type box.

  31. In the early 1900's my Nan, her sisters and brother were born in Keans Cottages. Miller was her surname and father was George Miller. I know my nan lived there until 1920 and her sister remained at Keans Cottages for many more years.

  38. There was a pub directly opposite that I don't recall the name of, I wonder if that survives also? And one 100 yards down the road. The area was called The Pole iirc? We were typing together lol. I did remember the name the Pole then lol. It was 91 and 92 we did it, a proper pub then with absolutely no food available and packed each evening and absolutely rammed at weekends.

  44. Perhaps you could persuade them to relabel the items listed as "Bargeware"! As far as I'm concerned that is bad enough to keep encountering on eBay, without actually finding it turning up in a museum.
