  1. I have put this in general boating so more will see it. In the present climate many people are finding it hard to buy basic provisions due to eejuts that are bulk buying. If you are one of these idiots please read no further. For sensible human beans who havnt bought everybody elses food up this is for you. The Pig Place shop at the moment has stuff you may need. The muppets are generaly supermarket shoppers so this place although busier than normal still has stuff. NOTHING has been overpriced and is precisely its normal price. At present there are plenty of proper free range eggs, bacon, pork etc though much is frozen due to time of year. There is pasta at normal prices, beans BOG ROLLS and other stuff. If you need owt and dont want to risk the drive/boat down and find there isnt what you want please message me and I will check and hold if we have it. I know this looks commercial but in the present climate please take it on the true value its meant as its of assistance to forum members. Taa Tim

  11. Having followed you for some time I'm sure most members would agree that if all wide-beam owners behaved and were like you this problem/argument wouldn't even exist - lets ignore that big town inside the M25 cos they're all odd anyway and as with the pubs they love being squashed together ?

  26. Because if one peak of an inverter was at positive 230V when the other inverter was at negative 230V the voltage across them would be 460V. Also worth noting that the peak voltage of a sinusoidal 230V is (230 x 1.414) 320V. RMS = Root Mean Squared (a kind of average voltage). I’m not understanding the arrangement as described in the OP. It makes zero sense to split a domestic bank, particularly so with it split down the length of the boat. BSS man is correct however that a battery isolator should be as close as practical to the battery.

  27. I dont mind helping out those in REAL need you old goat ? Indeed sir, beer, wine and gin and cider and other stuff. In other news we have just popped to Tesco which was at normal levels of shopper or may be a tad quieter than normal. There was very little fresh meat left but they were just about to restock and the fruit and veg etc etc were full. Maybe most of the muppets are now fully stocked? Lets hope they all have power cuts and their freezers blow up!!

  39. Hard to advise without seeing it. But here goes in general. I've changed thousands of immersion heaters in domestic house cylinders, and those sealed in with silicone tend to come loose quite easily. My advice is to put considerable time and effort into finding a flat ring spanner that will fit the octagon properly. Then, with the tank FULL of hot water, give the handle of the spanner a sharp hefty blow with a club hammer. The water in the tank will damp down the shock to the copper of the tank, and the plan is the shock breaks something, specifically the threaded seal. If the seal is so strong that the copper ruptures (almost unheard of in my own personal experience) then you were never gonna get it out anyway so a new calorifier is needed anyway.

  45. If the infection rate in London keeps climbing at the current rate, we might see all the London Boaters start to move! It could start to get quite busy on the canals leaving London ...
