Laptop forum problems

Canalworld forum is working on my iPhone (it hasn’t been this good before) but not on my laptop. 
I received a message saying that an obsolete (Freeserve) email address needed verification. Since then nothing has worked. I’m getting email notifications for the first time but now get a message saying my connection isn’t private. This is after getting messages that my account doesn’t need verifying. Any idea what is going on and how I can get the forum back.? I’ve deleted history but it hasn’t helped.

That message may well come from your web browser (Safari?) and it needs telling that it can trust Canal World. I know Firefox does this to certain sites that I know to be safe.

Check that your laptop is trying to access Https://canalworld.net (the "s" just before the : is important)

 

It's the secure browsing protocol, http may still work but web browsers are getting increasingly jittery about accepting insecure sites.

I typed in as above. It got changed to canalworld.net/forums/index.php?/register/&do=validating

message is then sorry your account does not require validation contact us

Why don’t you clear the cookies related to the forum, and then try logging in from scratch

These problems may have something to do with a recent upgrade, @RichM probably needs to take a look.

I’m using chrome. I typed as Alan said and got a signing in page. But when I signed in I went back to sorry your account does not require validation etc

I'm guessing that the forums you cannot get into are the Virtual Pub as well as Political and Current Affairs. Since you only appear to have posted 4 times (according to your avatar) that might be the reason.

I normally type in CWDF. Bing bring up the site to click on. When the first page is reached, I would add it to favourites and use that link from then on.

I've been a member for years and post regularly. Something very strange has gone on with my membership, with trying to resurrect a defunct email address and an old user name.

Is there anyway for the forum software to be changed so it doesn't think I've only made 5 posts or have I to wait until it sorts itself sometime in the future.

Did you, at any point in the past, make multiple accounts and/or sign up again with a new email address?
