Stixall is very good without doubt and I use it regulary. I still use Sikaflex 291 for anything outside and/or important though. A few quid extra for a tube is still alot cheaper than the possible cost of any water damage-and as Chewbaca says-a good fat bead of the stuff ...
They do, as well as selling from other sites- its a little expensive and pointless moving a wide beam to Crick for instance. .
People buying boats dont seem to like travelling too far to view them. Guess this is understandable given the difference between what the boat looks like on some internet sites sometimes and then what it actually looks like!
I wouldnt worry much about the new plate rusting from below so much as having rusty water dripping into your water supply from between the two plates and out your new holes!(Condensation, when you fill the tank right up etc) Expect you could seal the holes with something though to minimise it.
If it was leaking from the outside in the engine would have an unlimited supply of cold water so shouldnt overheat! If its both you have bigger problems than just overheating lol.
As you say-an external tank is the (expensive) proper way to go..
Absolutely agree-I wouldnt personally do it but come across a fair few in regular use that have had just that done though.
I was commenting on the inside leak though to be clear..
I assume the skin tank is leaking on the inside and leaking coolant into the engine bay and not through the hull into the tank where it has been overplated.
Did your friend ask for the inner skin tank wall to be overplated as well? Hardly seems fair to be complaining about a leak if you dont pay to have it fixed.
As a cheap and quick solution Alan de Enfield makes alot of sense..
I would give these a try-they have several depots.

Their scrap bin alone is very impressive-the stuff in the racks is unbelievable!
I find Wigrams Turn marina and the moorings opposite heading towards Calcutt to be bad on Three. Strangely though I can get a really good signal both approaching from Napton and Braunston-just not that bit in the middle.
Change it before you need the stove. The collars are identical to Wenlock Mk2s-mine cracked the same-cause is due to rust swelling the bottom of the flue where I hadnt capped the chimney.
If you are going on the system at the Nene get a temp licence at Northampton Marina to cover you and then apply for the reduced licence fee after the 1st Sept. If you are getting on the Ouse at Denver you will have to do this anyway as the lockie will insist.
IF you get caught before the 1st you will get stung for the whole year..
Last time I actually came across any Braunston vollies was probably last year-I was about half way going up and despite my assurances I would get through the next low pound the two (very cheerful) ladies insisted they ran some water down.
Luck of the draw I guess.
Hi Clive,
Shall be interested to see how you get on with the ladder on the counter. I attempted to get a (slightly drunk) and chubby chap out of the Trent not many weeks ago using one-he couldnt manage it even with me pulling him.
Cracking spot you are on-one off my fave moorings to stop at - never tried swimming there though!
Think if memory serves me correctly (Tommy will confirm) that if you send a quasi off to Sterling for repair they will replace the innards with a Sinewave board. Or something like that ☺
Maybe not-if its a combi and therefore a battery charger it is allowed to be wired direct (fuse fitted so all good) and not via the isolator.
But I know you already know that..
No.That 'leak' is only cascading from the top few inches of the gate-its not bad maintenance-its a gap- there isnt anything there to stop it leaking!
And I only know that because I was sat there watching it as I was waiting for the lock to fill a week or so ago ?
