I've tried biting my lip for too long. I really can't help it. I'm afraid I find George94's unrelenting antagonistic neanderthal posturing style both offensive and unhelpful. Unfortunately this then obscures anything he might have had to say which might have been interesting or useful. Whether this is deliberate or just how he is I have no idea, but it is a crying shame that this excellent discussion, which has been a model for forum excellence in the main, threatens to be hijacked by such an un-called for would-be pugilist. And I'm sorry if this is seen to be personal, but the poster concerned really has brought the sky down on his head as far as I'm concerned.11 points

I think it's important to say...each time you slag off your son on a public forum, the majority of people reading it, form a lesser opinion of you. Best not to?2 points

Why not dig a hole fill with concrete, leave 6inches, back fill with soil, then screw in the new twisty anchor that has been offered to you. The council will never know. Out of interest what will happen to the new pins when people give up their moorings, beg most take them with them, what happens to new moorers? It does seem shortsighted of the council not to just fit hoops every 25ft or so.1 point

Are you acquainted with Newton's Third Law, Mr Mayall? Every action has an equal and opposite reaction. Now, if you will kindly desist from insulting me, you will find that I will not insult you. It's really very simple.1 point

ANON321 is clearly a friend of PL as the alleged email was seemingly forwarded to him. I find the contents offensive, regardless of if this is a 'real' email or not, as I'm sure many others on here will also find it offensive. It is also irrelevant to the discussion. edit to add: Thanks for removing the post Mods!1 point

No, Dean is right, Mr Lillie. Feel free to join the herd and slag me off instead. It's funny, so many rude and insulting remarks pointed at me, but so few from me. And I don't instigate the rudeness either. What a strange forum this is.1 point

But did they give up their business, sell their home, just to give him the opportunity to own his own business, only to be stabed in the back? I wonder how they would feel if they had gone through what my wife has.1 point

A good pin is 1000mm of 20 mm steel bar, with a point forged on one end. Belt it into the ground until there is 100mm protruding. Put another one 300 mm away on the line of pull from the boat and tie the two together from the top of the first pin to ground level on the second. Then secure the boat to the first pin as close to the ground as possible. That will winch a main battle tank in good ground and certainly hold an NB in even a serious current. Keeping the mooring ropes taut, or at least withgout jerks on the pins will go a long way to preventing them pulling out. N1 point

The council house residents affected in Datchet, Staines and Wraysbury also have their homes ruined, not just rich and influential voters. My mate on his barge moored just up from Kris Cruisers at Datchet is in fear of losing the barge. His lines are now at the top of his mooring poles, his insurance states if they leave the barge they wont be covered, he has no gearbox at present so unable to fire up the engine if the worse happens and his wife is due to give birth in 6 weeks. He isnt rich either.1 point

[quote Just watched the helicopter video, and remembered our trip up the Thames a couple of years back. Some lovely houses are going to be ruined. The poor residents certainly need all the help they can get. Some lovely houses - where rich and influential voters live - are going to be ruined. Not just pesky rural or northern nobodies. I hope that leads to action and money for all areas. And maybe a bit more joined up policy about river basin management, not just flood defence.1 point

Don't do what a friend of ours did and fit a shallow shower tray designed for a fancy designer bathroom. It was so shallow that when anyone walked around and rocked the boat, the water sloshed over the side!1 point

Latest reply Hi Here is how the transaction will go on: -I will make a private eBay listing for you. -You will have to click "buy it now", fill in the forms and follow the instructions. -eBay will send you an invoice with all the transaction details and the payment instructions. -You will have to secure the founds to eBay. -After the founds will be secured to eBay, the delivery will begin and the boat will arrive to you in max. 48 hours. -When the boat will be in your custody, you will have a 3 days inspection period. If everything is alright, the transaction ends and eBay will release the money to me. If there is something wrong with the boat, you will be fully refunded and I'll get my boat back too, without any extra fees. Everything is covered by eBay. As I told you, eBay will release the founds to me, only after your confirmation that the boat is alright. Please let me know if you agree with this, so we can proceed right away with the transaction. I'm waiting for your reply. Thank you. My Reply Hello Again I trust I am the only one that will have this link. I don't want to be pipped at the post. I am so close to owning my first boat, I'm almost wetting myself. I have a massive smile on my face. Regards1 point
