  2. Hi all, it looks like this is now sorted. I bled the system, which didn’t take much to be honest and re-run the unit with all the radiators turned off. After 40 minutes the water coming out of the hot tap was like lava, so it appears that I now need to turn the rads off to get the water to the required temp which is no great shakes. From now on if I’m just after hot water I’ll close off the rads and bang the Webasto on for 30 or so minutes. Thank you for all the suggestions and advice.
  3. HDPE. I found a company online who would cut a small sheet into strips. Then drilled and countersunk with holes tapped into the steel underneath with some Sticks Like S*** for good measure.
  4. Again, I have never suggested how much extreme greenies know or don't know. I have never put forward a straw man's argument. I have not put forward an argument at all in this case. You keep reading too much into what I say. Which I'm baffled by, as you seem to be too intelligent for that. I only said that certain people would like Mr Jupiter's use of a single term, and would use it for their favourite items (in this case, batteries and electricity). I've also said we are probably all guilty of similar. I have also never suggested how much I do or do not know. Again, reading too much. It was one very simple statement, which is not untrue, and somehow has been taken way out of proportion. But if it helps, we will take Greta out of the extreme camp, even if she does come across as such at times. But, like it or not, the extremes do exist. On all sides I will add. One of which, I most definitely am not. I'm nicely in the middle, looking at it from all sides. Oh, and give me HVO at the pumps (of which I can only find a couple) and I would fill my car up with HVO all day long, despite the extra cost. Although I would like a better idea of where it comes from.

  10. My back hatch moves on brass sliders. These have become buckled by rust on the steel below. I don't particularly want to remove, straighten and replace them after treating the rust. Some years ago there was a topic on here about replacing the brass with polymer sliders (or some such) but I can't find it now. What are peoples thoughts about replacement sliders, their sourcing, advantages, disadvantages etc?

  12. I tried downloading duckgogo but my phone is too old to run it. It's odd, sometimes the forum opens with no problems, other times I have to go incognito, which means entering user name and password every time. Other sites are starting to go the same way, so it must be down to my phone.

  14. It can dissipate. We had a Perkins generator which wouldn't fire up because there was no residual magnetism in the field coils. Cured by firing it up with a battery on the field connections at the regulator. Have to be very careful with this, as it's very easy to blow the regulator. Easiest to use a separate battery from the generator's start battery.
  15. Commiserations old boy. These house things are not the best way to live 😩

  20. There's a full recycling point up the hill a bit. From the offside moorings walk up the hill towards the trees and there's a fenced off recycling compound in that car park. No Elsan, nearest is at Oughtrington Wharf.
  21. Wonder if Lymm Cruising Club could offer any information or help? Located just to the East of the main road bridge in town centre.

  24. No. Facilities on the Bridgewater are not good. There some litter bins in the town. Thorn Marine in Stockton Heath have an elsan that is free to use. Stretford Marina in the other direction may be able to help.
