Calling CWDF transport services

Could anyone help me out? I have bought a smallish boat engine - a Stuart Turner P66. It isn't very heavy or big. Two people can lift it easily and it will fit into a car boot

My problem is that it is in Kingsbridge in Devon, and I am in Kenilworth in Warwickshire

Can CWDF transport relay services help?

Is Kenilworth near Luton? I'll be driving from Dover to Milton Keynes at the beginning of next week, via the Heathrow side of the M25. If I can be of any help or slot into a relay system, just let me know.

Luton Town play at Kenilworth Road - otherwise there's 65 miles between us. It would be a good stopping point on a relay involving Rugby

Unfortunately, Kingsbridge to Dover is 282 miles

I shall be going to Great Torrington in North Devon (from Northampton area) some time in the next couple of months to see my Father but I don't know when yet. I could also take it up to Brinklow when visiting the boat.

Do you know rough dimensions and weight?

I can do Totnes to Oxford (or up to Rugby for Carl) at Christmas...

If Bones gets it to Oxford, I can get it from Oxford to Cambridge when dropping off a Moominette after Christmas. Am likely to be going from Cambridge to the NorthWest via A14/M6 fairly soon after that.

When you say "liftable by two people" would that include a moomin and a skellington?

We're driving down to Plymouth on 2nd November from somewhere around Macclesfield - it wouldn't be much of a detour to go via Kingsbridge. Will our Nissan Micra 1.0 cope with the weight?

Yes. I have an R3M as well, I can pick that up on my own easily

Easily

Seems a lot of faffing about, I got a PD2 and geartbox from Stretton (ST19) to Newhaven (BN9)for £65 (200 miles) via a pallet firm.

Yes, that's probably the best answer. I was just curious to see if it could be sorted any other way first

If ever anyone needs anything picked up, please ask me, I'm usually on tour, here there and everywhere in a double-decker, I can squeeze small stuff usually and big stuff occasionally.

e.g. this week :- Cardiff-Liverpool-Norwich-Lincoln-Birmingham-Kingston-Keele-Brighton-Camden-Cardiff and next is Manchester-Glasgow-Newcastle-Portsmouth-Nottingham--Oxford-Suffolk.

So if someone could liaise with me I could maybe do a good leg of any delivery.

Bloody hell I went to see Wishbone Ash in the scout hut Kingsbridge about five years ago. The last 25 miles is single lane country lanes and took about two hours!

MtB

Tee hee a slight exaggeration maybe but I was surprised when I put Plymouth to Kingsbridge into Google maps and was told it was 20 miles and 45 minutes - obviously very windy roads!

I'm going down Somerset first weekend of November and happy to pop down rest of the way if that's any good. Got an estate car so should fit in easy enough.

Let me know if I can be of any help. Would probably be coming back quite late Sunday but happy to drop it off as come back a46 usually.

If you still need a hand, I should be able to help. I run a three vehicles that escort wide loads all over the country. I live in Paignton, one of my drivers lives in Kingsbridge and my other driver lives in Napton. It would be fairly easy for either my guy in Kingsbridge or myself to pick it up and within the next week or two pass it over to my other guy who lives in Napton. PM if intrested.

Cheers, Rob
