Ribble link - still standing around scratching their heads wondering what to do, repair not yet started. The latest Stoppage notice said “We have identified a hole in the gate seal and we are looking into it”.

(OK I made that last bit up!)

We are booked on 22nd which I though would surely be oodles of time, but now I’m not so sure.

Keadby swing bridge is due to be fixed and operational on Saturday, I'm booked for Wednesday, so there's a few days grace there!

Somerton Deep is now passable. They have removed the lower buffer bar that was obstructing the top gate. Not replaced, just removed for now. The bottom gate still will not fully open though.

Perhaps there’s a section of the buffer bar stuck behind it? More likely a sausage (fender variety usually black hanging off boats, sometimes coming off, inedible)

It’s a hefty gate is that. Possibly needs balancing better?

They're letting boats do the Ribble Link going from L&L to the Lancaster, but not the other way. All July down passages cancelled, August also very possibly all cancelled and the CRT person I spoke today said it's quite possible there won't be any down passages before next year. I had an up passage booked for tomorrow but have had to reluctantly cancel today, because of the uncertainty about getting back.

We were booked on the Link for this Sunday. They cancelled the passage yesterday and said not a lot but  nothing probably available this year so it does sound serious. I think  Glasson sealock from the basin  to the sea is inoperative as well if you happen to own a yacht

My Mrs could still do it every time on her own, I never had to get off the boat. She is five feet four and fairly slim but has the knack when it comes to locks. I do miss the boat 😩

Better get that Somerton sorted, we are on our jollies soon and that's our passage to the Thames

They must have known your plans, sorted! Have fun, enjoyed the Thames, wish we could have stayed longer, very quiet though.
