  1. I would think that moving the partition and perhaps cutting an access panel would be your best option
  2. Junior, I am back in London next week so will bring the test gear down and we can investigate the charging problem. I can probably fit in the welder/generator as well so we can splint up the exhaust which will do untill you get a bit closer to my base next month. We can then effect a permanent repair. It's all the joys of boating!
  3. Have a look at French suppliers, lots more use of LPG over there.
  4. An engine manual will not really help in this instance as it will not cover variations in installation. You say that the engine is mounted to one side, is it hydraulic final drive. You may well find that you need to do some dismantling to access the starter motor.
  5. I was at Pillings Lock earlier this week, there are plenty of boats still there. I wonder when/if the mass exodus will begin. Does anyone know what the setup is with the workshop. Is it a stand alone operation or run by Plm. There was not much going on while I was there and the workshop was seriously untidy with no boats in. If it is stand alone, presumably, if the entrance is blocked, it too will cease trading.
  6. Coupled with a Griffin military rated case for the iPad will keep it dry and bump proof.
  7. Well researched Carlt, amazing change of tack!
  8. It will work ok but as Mike has said, will rely on the pump operating all the time that the stove is alight. Any pump failure is likely to cause the back boiler to kettle and vent over the expansion tank.
  9. You've gone very quiet Gary, do you still want to do this?
  10. 3mm in mild steel is more than adequate. If you are worried about load on the top of the stove, use a short section out of the stove and bracket it for support before the main flue run.
  11. Makita for me every time. The batteries are ultra reliable.
  12. Yes, there is no doubt, the cafe is the highlight of Whilton marina.
  13. Joyce will provide the cake supplies for Albion and I think a large vat of chilli will keep us going!
  14. When we put the meter on it yesterday, it was putting out at least 14volts so it definitely has an output. Systematically trace the wiring route and check all connections are tight and clean. If I were you, I would remove the "spare" fourth domestic battery out of the system as it may be upsetting things. Still, at least you know you have perfected your hand starting technique!! Simon
  15. Has it been sitting for a long while and the valves seized in the guides or has the timing slipped with ensuing valve/piston interaction?
  16. Spot on again Mike. Overplating has become the phrase of choice from surveyors and brokers alike.
  17. Sounds like the ideal opportunity to learn how to do it themselves.
  18. I guess it depends on available headroom. The waste connection will be easier if the tray is sat on the floor rather than setting between the ribs.
  19. We use an Omnimax. It does need to "see" over the hedges though so a pole mount is useful.
  20. Blimey Tom, looks like you have your work cut out! We can have a good chat next week. Do not despair!! Simon
  21. Really can't see the point , they must have very dull lives.
  22. Make sure it is standing level, those oil level sensors can be pesky little devils.
