Except that since I've seen it written the other way several times then not "absolutely everyone else" is doing it right. Had you considered that it might just be a simple mistake rather than people intentionally tying to be awkward?

 

 

A knotty problem indeed.

But if they aren't doing it right, they're doing it wrongly. In what way is this to be encouraged?

I made the first comment because as far as I know and all the professionals I have spoken to start at the base plate and work up.

 

My comment was to try and stop confusion to new boaters.

 

I did think it may be a 'typo' but that was not admitted..

EmilyAnne is 10:6:4:4 I believe.

 

The base being thin is for various reasons, boats scrape the bottom a lot, rust from the inside more than the outside, stability, and once you get over 10 (15, 20, 25) just to above having to ballest the boat.

 

6mm is as said loads for the side, and you shouldn't have and rust on the waterline, or anywhere else on the outside. If you do you have not been painting it enough or with good enough paint.
