Innisfree is 10:6:3:3. Weight saving up top makes it quite stable. I once worked it out and came up with approx 1700 kg lighter compared to 4:4.

Except that since I've seen it written the other way several times then not "absolutely everyone else" is doing it right. Had you considered that it might just be a simple mistake rather than people intentionally tying to be awkward?

I made the first comment because as far as I know and all the professionals I have spoken to start at the base plate and work up.

 

My comment was to try and stop confusion to new boaters.

The base being thin is for various reasons, boats scrape the bottom a lot, rust from the inside more than the outside, stability, and once you get over 10 (15, 20, 25) just to above having to ballest the boat.

 

6mm is as said loads for the side, and you shouldn't have and rust on the waterline, or anywhere else on the outside. If you do you have not been painting it enough or with good enough paint.

I'm not convinced about that Daniel. Some might and, given that some thicker bottoms might correlate to deeper drafts, it could be a bit of a self licking lollipop.

Where I am there are some convenient reeds that you can regularly wipe your bottom on. I just knew there was a reason for them to be there obstructing the channel.

Bit of a conversion cockup there! I recall coming up with 7cwt which equals 784 lbs, which of course equals approx 355kg.
