New 12v Tv wanted...

12v TV's are quite expensive.

Just one thing to think about 12v TV's like 12v, not 14v + coming out of your alternator. I asked around and any warranty is void if the TV is found to have failed because of a voltage 'spike' - use a stabilised power supply.

We bought this 'refurbished' one - with 12 months guarantee (click the link) made an offer of £120 - it comes with a stabilised power supply.

More and more new TV's are using a 12v power converter these days. They have a 13 amp plug which has a jack plug at the other end with a 12v convertor in the middle. This can be done away with to use a direct 12v supply. Problem is that you boat does not supply 12v, it fluctuatates a lot. Easliy sorted by fitting a voltage regulator and there are lots on ebay like this one for a tenner.

Saves using an inverter and the same goes for satellite recievers.

We bought the absolute bottom of the range from, iirc Morrisons, which we were going to run through a small inverter. By pure fluke i noticed the telly, on unboxing, was 12v so did away with the tranny, fitted a 12v plug and away it went. Its ran fine ever since. Engine running, engine off, batteries well up and batteries well down.

From memory this was well over 12mth since though i could be wrong.

Where do you install this kit, please? Inline obviously, but at what point.

These look OK to me, they're advertised as 12 volt and suitable for caravans but the spec doesn't seem to say if they have a stabiliser in them or not. I just went to Asda and looked down the back of the tellies til I found one that worked via a 12 volt transformer then junked the transformer, 4 years and its not blown up yet.

Just bought a Cello 22" from ebuyer.co.uk. Excellent TV (apart from the sound which is rubbish on most small sets these days), and Made in Britain!

Already had the 12V stabilised psu from the old TV, but the new one only takes 19watts so a cheaper 2 amp psu would be OK.

Be careful when buying Cello TV's, as most say they can do HD Ready (1080i) but only have a screen resolution of 1366 x 768. I brought the 24" C24115DVB-Ver2 LED TV for £169.99 from http://www.tv-village.net which was the largest Cello 12V LED TV that could do Full HD 1080p with the proper screen resolution of 1920 x 1080 and it comes with the 12-30v battery adapter as well as the 240v one. clapping.gif

Check the specs at http://www.celloelectronics.com as http://www.tv-village.net still have not updated their website to the Ver 2 TV specs - I checked with them by phone and the Ver 2 was the one that arrived... Also only uses 16 watts. I was only looking at LED TVs - did not check any of the LCD ones...

Would have liked a 32" LED with screen resolution of 1920 x 1080, but not available yet sad.png ....

Agree, we've yet to use a small tv with any decent sound, we've tried 3 makes so far as well, I would say though Cello is the best so far, but we do have the 29 inch which is bigger of course so room probable for a better quality speaker possibly.

Not only sound quality but volume, We've noticed with the Ross sat dish receiver the sound through it is very low volume. We thought it was the TV until we used the built in DVD we noticed the volume being much louder. We slung the receiver and bought another. I would avoid Ross and buy a dish and a separate receiver if you like good decent volume level.

Logik 24" are available from Currys, they are 12v & about £140.

Extra warranty available.

We bought the 22" ( it seems no longer available in 12v), it works well .

These sets allow you to record 1 program to a USB stick.

You won't go wrong for £140 & it's got a DVD player built in !

We have the same, and agree the sound is very tinny. We run the audio from the external speaker socket through a Phillips mini Hi-Fi speaker system which runs off 12v (and has an integral rechargeable battery). Gives a really great sound.

i too have a Cello 22" . I cannot express how truly atrocious the sound quality is . It is beyond belief that they even sell it without finding a way of putting this right . It is however easily put right as the post above says . I have a set of computer speakers -£12.99 at currys pc world which are powered via the USB socket at the back . Once this was done all was well .
