I remember seeing a sale advert for her a few years back - is she still around unconverted..?  Wasn't she down the Oxford for a while at least...?

Cheers

I think it was at Braunston the other week.

Unconverted..?

Roughly what would it cost to make a big union welded copy now..? ..for the steel work I mean..

Any ideas..? 🙂

Definitely unconverted, as for the cost, I've no idea.

Stokie was built as a working boat by Pinder a good while ago now.

Now trading as Crafted Boats: Specialist Boat Building & Repairs, Boat Building Services | Crafted Boats
"Crafted Boats is a fourth-generation family business with roots tracing back to 1953, when J.L. Pinder and Son was established. We combine decades of time-honoured boatbuilding expertise with a passion for innovation."

No idea of the cost now though.

Thanks guys ....there have been some new build working boats built over the years - some to my eye have been very decent boats where others have lacked the shape somehow... Arundel looks really correct to me 🙂😎

I can put a rough figure to steel but the skill is hard to quantify.... 🤷

I'm not having much luck finding an unconverted motor available so just considering options...

🙂👍

Keith and Jo Lodge had HADAR built as a Grand Union Replica used for trading.

Roger Fuller, but again many years ago now

Dusty on the Oxford I think was also a new build

I mean....... I 'could' build another one, but given the non standard hull construction, this would easily be a 6 figure hull. but, she'll swim beautifully and I hope I do the knobstick lines justice.

..and she looks incredible Dan 🙏😎

I'm more thinking a Grand Union or possibly Waterways motor...those Knobstick lines are beyound my reach 😁

Personally I would ask Dave Ross who trades (I think!) as DCR boatbuilding on the Stretton arm of the Oxford where Brinklow Boat Services has operated for some years.

The best Northwich copies, (they call them "remakes") have always come from that site..

Do you just want the Northwich shape, or do you want rivets (false or otherwise) as well?  From memory ARUNDEL probably has none - my preference, unless it is an actual historic, not a copy.

Well I’ve just had a word with my sparky chum down the other end of the yard (Dave Ross) and the thirty second, ball park figure is £60,000 for a boat like Arundel, no rivets, false or otherwise.

That, to me anyway, sounds like an absolute bargain!

Just the steelwork or a finished boat?

Just the steelwork. Add to that fitting out and painting the cabin, an engine plus installation, shutts & running gear and all the rest of the titivation.

It looks to me like the owner (initials "RH") is associated with Phoenix Canal Carriers on LinkedIn.

However I am not signed up to LinkedIn, so can't personally drill down further, but it might be worth you creating a log in?

Yes - I've got a LinkedIn profile already and I've sent a message...I don't think it's an active profile for him but it was worth a punt.. 🙂👍

Thanks Alan...

I will continue looking for an unconverted Grand Union in meantime or tug...I'm in no rush...

I would imagine that if looking for a new build from any of the suitable builders you would definitely need to be in no rush.  I imagine that most, if not all, will probably have very long lead times.
