  1. ...really ..I assumed it had broken...how weird is that..? I guess someone wanted that dynamo very badly...lol
  2. Dan - last time I spoke with him he was coming to you...I think he said some engine troubles 🤷
  3. ..looks like refooting work to me rather than reusing bits of other boats 🤷 ..surprised your surveyor didn't know that tbh ...wasnt Cambourne the Boat sold to a waterways lengthman outside the tender process back in the day .? ..was a nice sold boat 🙂👍
  4. Hiya Darren - its Jon - we spoke yesterday about Progress 😊👍 ..this is a great forum to learn about her and wooden boats in general mate 👍
  5. ..that's right - I couldnt remember her name..it was a terrible night - the heat was so strong it was just impossible to get into her by the time we realised she was a blaze..she was immediately in front of my pair..it was horrible..
  6. Progress is a lovely little boat to my mind - and the advert here has given me something to think about for sure..although Id take the ropes off her deck straight away lol Shes in very good nick considering her age and while there is an issue in her hull it wasnt that that led me to sell her...as silly as it sounds I simply found her uncomfortably small 🤷🙂 The issue in her hull is this - on her front right hand side the swim plank - longest plank from forend down side and first on bottom boards has a hole in right on the bend where her bows straighten out ...the original plank used has very open grain there and on the bend rott set in and worked its way straight through...I plugged it with a few blocks, redid the internal sheeting ( the whole is about a foot long all way through, packed with resin and horse shit lol and put a metal alli plate over it which was bent over and under bottom boards...it was water tights but vulnerable 🙂 ..the rest of hull when I had it out and cleaned off and blacked and caulked was very good The guys I sold her to - I showed them the pics of hull hole - did a really nice reskin of her cabin and deck as that was leaking a bit at time.. ..very pretty little boat and a lovely feel to her.. 🙂👍 sorry about spell check - I cant see how to get back to edit duh! lol 🤷
  7. Was it Lichfield that burned out above Oxford about 25 years ago..?
  8. I have a few cobs they can buy if that helps...? ...will get them out of the garden.....
  9. How much of her did Mr Priest manage to save..? I knew Jim and Dorris for a while at Braunston - just lovely people both 🙏👍
  10. Progress is a lovely boat - albeit narrow 🙂 I docked caulked and tarred her before I sold her a few years back and from what I can see her next custodians repaired her cabin and decking and repainted - looks a really nice job as well. 🙂 I bought the engine spares from another forum member and sold them with her. Her hull was good except she has a hole straight through on the right hand bottom side plank right on the bend where she curves into her bow - its the longest plank in her where the grain in the plank is open - we put a few blocks and horse shit in and a galv plate over that and bent it under her bottom planks - its right on the bottom boards about half the hight of the plank ( new buyers were aware with photos ) - but youd need to be careful boating and moving her around imo 🙂 ...Id buy her back in a heart beat for the right money despite this - she didnt suit my family use at the time but shes a lovely boat no doubt.. 😊😊
  11. I think the current owner has had her many years....
  12. ...is it me or is it mad that a boat museum cant identify that boat...?
  13. ..yeah - same for me....owner was really nice and straight forward - I totally got what she meant about not selling her for the 2 or 3 k? she was worth now but for something that included the quick work that needed doing....unfortunately I think it means shes a hard boat to buy.....
  14. ...when I spoke with the owner the 15k included the costs of having the 30 odd foot of bottoms - which are urgent I understand - done rather than selling her for a more realistic figure to someone buying her as a cheap get afloat boat but unable to do the urgent work and lose her....Ive got some pictures somewhere...will dig them out...
  15. ..be great if it could ....what kind of cost for that..?
  16. ..if its the block you'll struggle - and its thought to be... ..Ive run JP2 in past...some bits easier than others but would think block is tricky.. ....yeah all true on planks....that's why I said a catch up docking needed with all that entails... ..still a great boat
  17. ..yeah - think a few years back now...without docking one can see: she needs at least one plank on the side above water line...internally its roughly between a bedroom and shower/toilet areas ( unfitted ) ...likely? to be more than one as is the nature of these things...and a big catch up docking - also with all that entails a snot been out for a while... ..the clerestory roof was leaking and has been removed with a new ply skin - same on left hand side of cabin...windows not cut so blanked off... ..engine has blown water jacket...JP2.... ....fit out....theres a stove in main cabin and a gas cooker but its really camping... ...painting ..etc etc.... ..having said all that she still has a really nice feel to her and not withstanding what I guess? could be another 12k to spend on all the above to get a basic camping fit out kinda thing ( one could spend more ) Id happily buy her if a slightly more reasonable price could be agreed... CRT mooring a 250 per month I really hope she isn't dragged out and burned...a lovely boat
  18. I bid Ken £2000 but its wasn't accepted - think he had a viewer today who intended to do all the work required at Gems yard ....
  19. I bid £500 but it wont let me....it suggests £9,200....
  20. Clee and Clent have always had something 'right ' about them to my eye anyway.... any recent pictures out there..?
  21. ..yeah - all agreed....its a JP2 and split looks to be in the top of the block...cabin roof off to get out...personally wouldn't want an air cooled in place... ....but its gone from a mobile boat with a lovely engine and potential to a hull needing work maintenance AND an engine.... its still a nice boat but I guess someone will spend 10k+ getting her mobile and up to date on hull work and maintenance and then shed be worth broadly the same ( I know value isn't directly connected to cost with these boats but still .. )
  22. ..sadly no...the vendors assessment of a wooden motor restored 20 odd years ago needing at least one plank and a catch up of hull maintenance with an unfitted lid and a broken engine is greatly different to mine...but at a more pragmatic valuation I would be very interested - she had a good feel....
