Hmmmm ....

According to the sign, whether the next boat is ascending or descending, the staircase has to be set with the top chamber full and the bottom empty. After passing an ascending boat the bottom chamber is emptied for the next boat, or if passing a descending boat the top chamber is filled from the pound above; after which operation the same amount of water (one lockful) has passed from the pound above the locks to the pound below. The order of ascending and descending boats may affect the waiting times for the two directions, but not the quantity of water used. Discuss ...

Armitage Tunnel T&M. We are reassured that eight foot wide boats are OK.

 

The man at Spode House moorings has resumed the position of guarding/lighting the entrance to Armitage Tunnel. Compare 25Mar2023

On this day in 2023. A fake tug rescues a stuck historic tug. Or have I got them the wrong way round? Anyway the moral of story is that if you want to explore the lesser travelled bits of the BCN you can't beat a boat built on the BCN by folk that know the BCN.

 

This is Vulpes and Tardebigge on the Titford Canal heading for the pools earlier today.

Its been a great long weekend so far. 

Started out Thursday evening . Last night was as West Stockwith . Returning home tomorrow and back to work on Tuesday.
