  1. In the morning I'd ring the Avon Navigation Trust boat in the basin, the one that issues the licences and ask them.
  2. It would be even trickier if it was a V bottomed Springer!!
  3. Well, come on, tell us, how did it go?????
  4. For the stern line I just use a snap clip through the eye splice & onto the fender chain bracket, no chance of it slipping from there & I suspect if there was a danger of hanging up, the fender chain bracket would give way, never been there yet.
  5. but the second mouse gets the cheese!!
  6. I always wanted a Goblin teasmade to wake up to in the morning but the wife wouldn't let me!!!
  7. Much the same on the Gloucester-Sharpness. In the past the red Biffa bins have been in the open but they've just built a new lockable compound at Saul Junction & are doing away with the bins at Fretherne bridge which were always overflowing but where very few boats ever stopped. I don't suppose it will take long for the lock to disappear.
  8. Thanks very much for that, I wasn't looking at it for me, I started the thread for anyone else who might be interested for the more historical boats.
  9. How strange, never had that happen before. Presumably because I added it to my watch list I have received an offer from the seller to buy it for £85 instead of the £95 "Buy it now" price. The offer is valid for 48hours, does that mean no-one else can buy it in the meantime?
  10. I was looking at the ANT site earlier, their Covid 19 update No3 dated 13th May. They seem to have got all the flood damage problems sorted & at the moment are operating in the same way as CRT, essential travel only, no overnight, need to book passage through some locks 24hrs in advance. https://www.avonnavigationtrust.org/covid-19-information/
  11. New listing on ebay https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Antique-Vintage-Enamel-Cap-Badge-British-Transport-Docks-Board-Railway-Waterways/164233628548?hash=item263d164b84:g:SlwAAOSwaEhZLCOF Seems a bit expensive but where would you get another.

  13. For a good start I can recommend Jane Marshalls weekend courses at Audlem bottom lock.
  14. The Society for the Preservation of Ancient Buildings (google SPAB) has a lot of info about limes & different types & uses
  15. But then you've got to find somebody who can/will do the work if you are unable to. Walk away.
  16. In my experience they're very helpful.
  17. When you get old & less bendy, a shower is much easier to get in & out of, don't ask me how we know.
  18. Those had been discontinued by 2002 when I exchanged letters with Beta about fitting one on our new engine.
  19. That screw is for assembly of a kitchen cabinet, through a side panel and into a chipboard shelf, nothing to do with the boiler.

  21. Grandson & I put a canal on our N gauge railway. Langley models do some very nice white metal kits in n gauge including Kit A18 Waterways scene which has motor & butty, lock gates, bollards & paddles. I think you can also get them ready assembled & painted too. Scroll down the link to kit A18 http://www.langley-models.co.uk/acatalog/Online_Catalogue_Accessories_A1__A65__incl_canal_boats__59.html
