  1. Hmmm wouldn't it all depend how it's worded. If its a tax when 'staying away from home' the surely your narrowboat is your home and your in your home and not away from it....?!
  2. I used 'Kus' magnetic sensors and guages. Pretty good quality, work perfectly and very keenly priced... I'll find a link and post.... https://www.asap-supplies.com/products/kus-water-level-gauge-with-stainless-bezel-white-euro-resistance-ky11100 https://www.asap-supplies.com/products/kus-fuel-and-water-dip-level-sender-200mm-euro-resistance-js60057
  3. Hmmmm mine often runs through the night... It runs less, but it still runs a couple of times an hour... After reading the manual again I think I have the temp set lower than it needs to be and I believe I also have the 'Fast Cooling' enabled. Apparently I you hold the temp button for 3 seconds you can turn 'Fast Cooling' on and off.....
  4. Thank for your reply. Battery's are all good, behaves exactly the same whist engines are running or on shore power, via victron phoenix charger. Nothing on the sides or the fridge, all the pipework and compressor are on the back. It has some space both sides and on top. Also have a draw above it I can remove to increase air flow as a test...
  5. Evening, if anyone has a dometic compressor fridge, how often does yours cycle on and off. Mine just feels like it's cycling far too often. The compressor starts & runs for 3 to 4 mins then off for about 15 mins, then on again for 3 to 4 mins....?? My first thoughts are the cable is too small or not enough air flow behind it...
  6. Sorry, I want being entirely serious with my previous reply. Wow thats a decent price!! Do you want to sell some to me 😉
  7. £18 per day this year with the rise in electricity prices 😁
  8. As mentioned above BWML or Aquashista sorry Aquavista as it's now known do residential moorings, it's not cheap and they aren't a nice company to deal with...
  9. IMHO older GRP craft tend to weigh more also those designed for costal duty tend to weigh more as the fiberglass is thicker. Last time mine was lifted crane drive said ut was 6.5 ton...
  10. I'm a bot.... well I certainly feel like it with the drudgery of work at the moment 😞
  11. What's your power source, inverter, generator, shore power? Have you tried a different power source?
  12. http://www.calcuttboats.com/ Edit Doh beaten too it 😁
  13. True, but they often bend the pricing by charging x amount per unit plus x amount for infrastructure... The result, bloody expensive electricity!!

  15. If the locking pin is correctly set enfield legs will kick upwards/backwards on impact, when reverse is engaged it will be locked in the down position. Trim is set with a static bar that you can manually move but it's a bit of a faff. Hydraulic trim tilt enfield legs were available but about as rare as rocking horse poo. Edit: There is also a variant the swings up out of the water (left or right can't remember which way) on a manual worm gear mechanism. If yours has the swing mechanism and hasn't been regularly swung then don't!! It will probably tare the seals then leak... Generally they are good stern drives, easy to work on. Parts are difficult to comeby now. Keep the oil level topped up.

  19. In my limited experience I'd be looking for another device in the house that is electrically noisy, but then you're not an electrician so not really your job... Good idea about using an inverter, I take it you are planning on running the boiler from the inverter for a while, few days perhaps? You'll either need a big battery bank or a way of charging the batteries. IIRC using a mains charger to charge the battery powing the inverter should decouple the supply enough... Anyway back to the inverter, reciently I've only used a victron inverter, expensive but great, everything I've run from it works perfectly....
  20. Meter Macs are a shockingly awful company never had much joy with them or they're products... personally I would avoid at all costs...
  21. Instead of purchasing a new pump you could get yours refurbished, I've used SP Water Pumps Ltd before, great service at a reasonable price...
  22. I wonder how much of a pay rise Parry will get this year.... I wonder how much of a bonus he'll get....
  23. I dropped a new fuel pump on this weekend, bled the fuel system again and ran it for 40 mins... We'll see how it behaves over the next few weeks...
