  1. Maybe the OP is/was a teacher? Maybe he is fully capable of home schooling his child.
  2. I've got 2 of them. One is 3 years old and the other is 2 years old.(I know it's not wise to mix used and new batteries) They have had a lot of abuse - been pulled down to 11.6volts quite a few times and never get fully charged. I even ran an 800w mobile airco unit a few times this year(not for long though) They are definitely low on capacity compared to new, but they will see this season out (until end of October) Next spring I will replace with the same(or even lead carbon) and have a much better charging regime. Be warned though, they are flippi g heavy - 50 odd kg each.
  3. I don't think it would work on overcast days but if you go over the top with solar panels ie more than you really need to charge your batteries then I'm sure I've read somewhere of a solar charge controller that can send excess electrickery to a small emersion heater. Maybe someone on the forum can expand or I may have dreamt it?
  4. Just dye the cat to match the carpet. ??
  5. Probably not, but it is all relative. Driving at 70mph on a motorway in fog is not illegal if no speed restrictions are shown (although not advisable) Driving at 75mph on a deserted 3-lane motorway is illegal ie victimless crime. Graffiti is wilful defacement and vandalism of someone else's property - that is unless the "artist" has gained permission from the property owner.
  6. Did you report it to the police? Graffiti is a victimless crime (mostly). Just like a motorist speeding???
  7. An idea? Can boaters not help more? Maybe put license costs up by, say, 50% and let boaters earn the increased costs back by doing unskilled work on the canal system at a fixed daily rate? It would free up some money that is paid out now to contractors ie grass cutting, litter picking etc. Of course people unable to work due to age or health should be exempt from the increased license costs. It could be classed as voluntary work with the rebate as an incentive. Not sure how the taxman would react and of course the workers would need supervision. Just a thought.
  8. Why do bow thrusters make such an awful noise? I spend every Sunday evening in the "old harbour" here in Rotterdam on a friend's hotel-ship. On the opposite side of the harbour there are moorings for about 24 small privately-owned day boats. During the evening most of them return and every single boat(average 20-25ft long) it seems has a bow thruster. They all make such a horrid screeching racket. ???
  9. Amber's films involved mostly blue.?
  10. Amber Lynn made some colourful films in the 1980s. I wonder if the boat owners knew??
  11. It's similar to the Youtube phrase "like me please". I don't even like myself - why should I "like" anyone else?
  12. I didn't think Rabbits had been around that long??
  13. Thank you for the reply. A bit pricey then. I wish I'd trained as a construction assessor/engineer 35 years ago.
  14. Are there any paperwork issues regarding DIY stretching a NB? Obviously declaring to CRT for the extra licence costs, but RCD, inspections or insurance difficulties?
  15. Does it maybe push down then twist?
  16. Shot blast and powdercoat. I had 2 cast iron park bench frames done about 8 years ago. They are outside in all weathers and still perfect. Cost about 20 quid for cash if I remember correctly.
  17. I have a Hyundai HY2000i, bought new about 18 months ago. It's only done 124 hours so far but, touch wood, starts on the first pull, runs nice and used no oil so far. It's fairly quiet but not as quiet or as light as a Honda third of the price. So far so good - only time will tell.
  18. This post cannot be displayed because it is in a forum which requires at least 10 posts to view.
  19. Shhhh...... Don't tell everybody or there will be even more numpties running their engines every night until the early hours ???
