I have an old brass gimball oil lamp.... been meaning to get rid but not been in a rush... maybe you can have a look next time your on the weaver... i got a few bits and pieces like a big old brass blow horn
I've experienced it but in summer at a busy wharf with plenty of gongoozlers. Dropping it from a small height can be disastrous! I've had many a disaster with cassettes now gone compost and life is sweet!!
The best way is to use cameras to read boat registration at locks then do automatic logging. Any unreadable boats should go in a review list for enforcers. Would require a bit of investment though.

This is not the way. No one will donate for it in private ownership and no proper planning. Even the crowd funding page is very lax on information.

My panels are resting on the hand rails then I simply drilled holes and used wire rope to crimp them tight. It was quick and simple but I guess someone can just come along and cut the wire...
