  1. Nick, as a K4E (Vetus M414) owner, when did this change take place? Bod
  2. The other aspect of using magnets, is theft. Bod
  3. Your answer is with you. You've had one pump out and rinse, which improved the situation, rather than Odourlos use Biological washing powder/tablet, Brewers Yeast is said to be good as well. Be sure to pump out as part of the winteriseing process, combined with making sure any tank ventilation is not blocked. The problem should lessen, as you don't know how long the "smelly" contents have been in there. Bod
  4. A40 Countryman, father had one, paint held the rust together, in the shape of front wings. Bod
  5. OHH chunky brass screws! Bod
  6. Try Hydraulic pipe supplier's for Bulk head connectors. Bod
  7. How old is the boat? Does it have a "built-in" water tank? How high from the floor is the outlet pipe from the tank? You may have a dip tube inside the tank, to enable the full contents to be used. In my case, as below, this tube can rust up enough to stop the flow. If you are lucky then this rust can be removed (BUT only for it to grow again ). The cure I used was to blank off this tube, and replace it with a new one, in copper. Bod
  8. "Space, how much do you need?" Swampy's favourite place, laying on the starboard deck, watching the water go by. Bod
  9. What type of batteries do you have? Sealed lead acid, no removable tops, or flooded lead acid where the tops are removable. If removable, when was the water level last checked or topped up? If the water level is low, or missing then trouble can be expected. ONLY TOP UP with distilled or deionised water. Tap water will wreck the battery. Bod
  10. How do you spell the name of the 9th month of the year? Bod
  11. Don't remember anything like that happening, any idea when? Bod
  12. The answer to this CC/CM argument lies in 17. 3.c.(ii) If the Board/C&RT were to publish clearly what it would take to "Satisfy the Board" then all argument would be over. Then there are the Byelaws, which if properly used, cover most situations. Bod
  13. Day 7, Road swing bridge at Foxton is very heavy to open/close. Day 8, 9, Be aware there are strict opening hours at Foxton and Watford locks, can also be long queues. Could be held up overnight at either or both! Long summit pound, is not deep, so speed will be restricted. Day 9,10, Are you sure about going to Stoke Bruerne, it's a long way off the Leicester Ring. All in, I feel you are expecting to have a very high average speed, leaving no time for hold ups/shopping, or even loo breaks, if single handing. Bod.
  14. This post cannot be displayed because it is in a forum which requires at least 10 posts to view.
  15. Before spending money on new batteries, how exactly do you recharge the current ones, both method and length of time charging, on a daily basis? It's almost pointless to buy new batteries, if you cannot recharge them properly, they will be wrecked in a very short time. (Think days) Bod.
  16. Which part of Scotland do you want/need to be in? This will also have a bearing on what sort of boat would be best. Bod
  17. Be aware of the RCR requirements for the build quality. Recreational Craft Requirments, this is a set of legal requirements for the building and fitting out of inland waterways craft. Domestic electrician, domestic gas fitters are generally not aware of boat requirements, indeed almost all Gas Safe fitters are not qualified to work on LPG in boats. As the requirements are now so steep, and if you may want to sell the boat at a later date, having the boat built and fitted out by the same company, may well work out cheaper, than trying to D.I.Y (even having your "man" doing the work) I believe the responsibility of meeting these requirements lies with the builder/fitter outer, for the life of the boat, no matter who owns the boat at the time of the fault being found. There is a very great deal of information on this if you search "RCR" in the search box. (not to be confused by River Canal Rescue, who are the waterways equivalent to the AA) Bod.
  18. Having used that product, I would not consider using it, in any other months than July or August. I did our tank in May, it took a fortnight to dry enough to replace the tank lid. All I can suggest is to scrape out as much as you can, redo the Fertan as per Fertans instructions, redo the paint as per Rylard instructions. Gentle air movement into and out of the tank will help the drying, which in my experience, this time of year, will be at least 4-6 weeks. Paint needs to dry from the base to the top, just being "touch dry" means the top of the paint is dryish, but under that it's still wet, meaning the solvent has to get through the ever thickening top. Bod PS. Check the inside of the dip tube(if fitted) for rust build up, mine was almost solid, and had to be replaced.
  19. @Lisapas if you wade through this topic you may find what you are looking for. Beware there is a lot of off topic content, skip through till you see photos, could be a good idea. Bod.
  20. Back to basics. Which tank did you fill? The tank filler point should have a label saying what the tank contains. Don't feel bad at answering this, a forum member did recently make a posting where an inexperienced crew member did fill the wrong tank. If you have filled the wrong tank we can advise how to rectify this. Bod
  21. Anyone remember the mono-rail at Earith Cambs? Bod
  22. Everything tinned, then laid aginst each other, melted together. Should I have put the capacitor in parallel rather than in series? Bod
  23. Thanks arrived safely. Apologies for slow reply, life got in the way, as it does. The radio was perfectly clear, whilst the aerial was disconnected. Connecting, gave interference, which stopped once I touched the aerial, then stayed clear for the rest of the day. Next day, total interference again. Today, interferance, till the aerial is touched, hand on clear reception, hand off varying level of interference. I don't think the fault is in the radio itself. Could it be the aerial? Bod
  24. We're thinking of the Lancaster this year, how long a gank plank would you advise? Bod
