  1. Built this in 2015. CPU i5 4690k MOBO Z97E GPU GTX970 oc'd RAM 8GB 2 spinny hard drives 2 monitors. When gaming this thing (everything) will pull about 25A at nominal 12V. So fine during the summer with plenty of solar (I think my 660W can produce 48A), fine with the engine running, fine on shore power. Not so fine just on batteries.
  2. Just don't let him sort your batteries out...
  3. When I had a similar thing, it turned out to be a faulty RCD not letting any electric through.
  4. Sounds like you need to put an official formal complaint into the police oversight body
  5. If be interested to know what you didn't like about it if you didn't stay in it.
  6. Yes it does have a red plastic key. & it doesnt isolate the battery anymore either! So it will be replaced to day with a decent 1. Thanks Tony.
  7. Similar problem for me (Kuboto beta marine). Turned the key to heat 1 morning, nothing, turned it to start, still nothing. Kept turning it 1 way then another, & eventually it got electric & started. (quite annoying as I planned a 1 day cruise then stop for a day then another 1 day cruise, but instead had to do the whole 2 day trip in 1 day) Anyway NB Smoko from my marina went through all the electrics with a voltmeter & has decided its a faulty isolator on the starter battery. Should be fixed today.
  8. This doesnt make any sense Basically like others are saying you have got it the wrong way around. Connect the batteries first, then connect the panels.
  9. 1 of these comments reminded of 1 time going to a bike rally, we went over the mountain. When we dropped down into the valley everyone was walking around in shorts & t shirts, yet we were plastered in snow!
  10. The Nene also allows sea toilets

    Fridges

Insufficient battery charging. This pretty much says it all (& I've seen the same numbers for myself) My 12V Shoreline fridge/freezer is on 90% of the time, it's old & tired (11 years old). Always keep it on 2. Draws about 5A. I agree with MTBs solar figures too although I have 660W. So under ideal conditions like we've had the last few days your solar panel can keep up with your fridge say 12 hours per day, then overnight it pulls 60Ah from your batteries. Under ideal conditions your solar panel is also charging your batteries by just 2A max, putting in 24Ah back into your battery bank. So you are short by 36Ah per day under optimal conditions & zero inefficiencies.
  12. I saw a boat with mesh instead of glass for the top part of the hopper windows, & a nice slide down mesh for the front doors. They had used cabin care.co.uk. I'm convinced having seen it & it's now on my to do list. It's annoying having to turn the lights out if you want the windows open.
  13. Ingress? You're way behind the times. That came out in 2012. It's also beset with problems of cheaters & spoofers, & Niantic still are crap with dealing with that even after all these years. Pokemon Go is the same game (with the same portals from ingress) with a different skin. It made me chuckle when Pokemon shares went up because of the viral nature of the game, then crashed again once peeps realised niantic made it instead of Pokemon. There's a portal on the Northampton arm of the GU by the railway bridge, lock 15 or 16, I put it there. There's also 1 smack bang in the middle of the Wathen Wigg suspensation bridge (the yellow footbridge just after Southbridge) at Northampton on the beginning of the River Nene after you come off the arm (I put that there too).
  14. Lol, it got nicked again a few weeks after I got it back ?
  15. I saw this on a boat. It swings out then folds down. Ideal place to perch in the correct place, not within the tiller arc.
  16. I use a Thetford C263 with a proper porcelain bowl. Got 3 cassettes that have wheels & handle. Lugging a smaller 17 litre cassette about is easier than a 21 litre cassette https://www.jacksonsleisure.com/caravan-motorhome/toilets/cassette-toilets/thetford-c263-cassette-toilet-for-caravans-motorhomes/
  17. Thing is, if they can't even get something as simple as spelling punctuation & grammar correct, something we would expect a 16 year old to get right in English O level, then what else are they getting wrong?
  18. & still expect some days of naff all in the summer when it's miserable
  19. That's the trouble with this place sometimes, you ask a seemingly simple innocuous question, & boom, loadsa answers which leads to a million more questions & you end up wishing you'd never asked & just gone with the gumpf the place that was trying to sell you summat was saying ?
  20. Blisworth arm (17 locks), so at Gayton. The missus caught a taxi too work , I was supposed to single hand down the arm. But it was empty. I spent 2 hours filling it, & was about to set of when CaRT turned up. There was a boat coming up with no water so they made me wait in the lock whilst they ran all the water down that I'd just filled up, & wouldn't let me go down with the water. The missus finished work & went home to the marina, phoned 'where are you', lock 3. It's a 2 hour walk up that arm, I'd got to lock 4 when she showed up.
  21. I shan't bother. It hasn't been a problem for the last 4 years & I usually wash at 30°C
  22. Thanks again (sorry it's a bit late). In not buying another inverter, they cost a fortune. I've not had a problem in 4 years with my 2k inverter, & I usually do laundry at 30°C, I think I've only ever done it at 90°C once & that was on shore power. Usually on shore power anyway. Edit. Just looked at the washing machine, apparently it wants 3kW.
  23. Usual arseholes out in force again I see. Someone new dares to ask a question, someone else gets nasty because they know everything there is to know about boating, how dare you ask a question do your research we don't like where you intend going lets take it as an opportunity to get nasty for no effing reason whatsoever, then they get all butt hurt because the newbie dared to stand up for themselves & then rest of the usual crew join in... Post count (just for sh*ts giggles)... Dicks! Bring on the banhammer!
  24. Are you part of the 1%? Are you prepared to donate millions to the Tory party? If the answer to both of these questions is yes then I suspect you won't have any trouble getting here. Otherwise good luck. I love living on a boat.
