Be good to see if it works, maybe one with more LED`s incase its murky down there, cant see it being clear anyway lol.

Could fit it to an old fishing pole, even rod with eyes removed, i have a few here infact.

Be good for searching for new fishing spots carp and pike spotting..

Think i mite give it a go when i am afloat and connected upto the dash with a laptop and watch as i go, be easy for me as i will have a pulpit unlike a NB.

a friend of mine that I go fishing with, has got a remote controlled boat that he cut the bottom out of,siliconed in a piece of Perspex, and mounted a normal digi camera in, it works a treat for watching fish etc, though you may struggle getting it right under your boat

From several years of diving experience in inland waters it will be murky and under a boat it will be very dark.

. You need to head for the Cotswolds, or any other gravel pits around the UK, they are crystal clear, I often swim with a mask and snorkel when fishing, but would,nt bother in the canal, though the GandS can get quite clear at times due to its immense depth, so most boats don't stir up the bottom

I got one of those usb endoscope cameras that plugs into a laptop for about a tenner. You don't want to spend more than that on something you'll never use!

Got to agree

I'm currently doing some wildlife fiming underwater with (of all things) a mobius dash-cam in a waterproof case¹ and even in clear streams the visibilty isn't as good as you may think it will be.

I've used it to look at the anodes on a boat on the L&L (mounted on my trusty monopod) and I had to get REALLY close to even see them through the murk.

¹ coz it has motion triggering and does full HD

We bought a cheap one for inspecting our Tug at the London Museum and can agree that they are as good as useless in a murky canal.

I paid about £40 for an endoscope to check out my prop. I got a fish hook stuck on my hand once and I thought I may be able to see down there. For what good it did I may well have just shoved it up my arse!

I've just bought a USB endoscope from flea-bay and tried it out in my pond. It's crystal clear as it's filtered so not a proper test, just proof of concept. 10m long cable is more than long enough for snooping under boats. It has a variable brightness LED at the head so some tweaking can be done to get a better image - too bright and you get scatter from the suspended "stuff".

You won't be getting outside broadcast, BBC Wildlife documentary images but it is good enough to see if there is anything there and maybe what. i.e. do you need a breadknife or a hacksaw!
