That's a Michael Moorcock reference, isn't it? Eric of Melnibone's sword?

...or possibly Kipling's 'Harp Song of the Dane Women'.

WHAT is a woman that you forsake her,

And the hearth-fire and the home-acre.

To go with the old grey Widow-maker?

We were idly wondering while out on the Avon Ring this week whether to rename our boat "Private", or perhaps "Long-Term Permit Holders". It would make finding a mooring much easier.

Or "No Mooring" and "No Winding"

Remember seeing a boat called 'Happy Days' a few years ago - which in itself isn't odd - but when you see its registration number - P45 - made me smile smile.png

I saw a "Happy Daze" at Stoke recently.

Not particularly funny but there was a boat called "Sirrah" on the L&L many years ago which is a very old word. The owner was always a bit reluctant to discuss the name, but many years later a wagon was behind my van with the name Sirrah on the front. It was of course Harris reversed by the mirror..
