An unusual bow thruster problem

The thruster has two props, one either side of the leg. The offending item was neatly coiled between the two:-

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Must have gone into the tube for a quiet sleep! It must have been a fairly neat fit through the grid at the end.

I was going to check the down the weed hatch when we got back to our moorings on the Middle Level, water like gin, but after looking over the stern watching the fish I saw an eel about the same size slide between the bottom of the boat and the bed of the cut. So I gave it a miss.

Not around here - in fact down at Keadby earlier this year the EA released another batch of elvers into the drains down at their pumping station. Some find their into the Trent and other the canal.

 

Can't stand the things myself - make me shudder

Yes, eels wrapped around the BT prop. It's a major drawback and a very good reason not to have one.

 

If I had a quid for every eel I've pulled out of my BT tunnel...
