This is concerning as at least part of the issue is that CRT have been told to stop pumping water the river (Calder?). Taken together with the Mon & Brec troubles could this be a worrying new trend???

Does feel somewhat similar. I'm guessing that Yorkshire Water has asked them to stop.

However I would have expected there to be more information if it came via YW.

YW has some of the more advanced water movement systems in the UK, so I'm guessing they are struggling also (unless this is being done to stop/reduce impact to local wild life).

It is very dry here, have already had a couple of fires on the moors up near the Rochdale summit.

I hope you went in yesterday, Tuesday is cheap beer day, between £2.80 and £3.20 for a pint.

I think the Thai kitchen only opens Thursday to Sunday.

Its cheaper than the Indian in the market, which was nice but cost £9.00 (served in plastic containers with a plastic spoon)!

The market is full of butchers which is no good for me, but also now has its own little pub stall. Not tried it yet but it looks interesting with a few handpumps.

The Spoons in Tod has closed and now open under different ownership, have not tried that yet either.

... and is *very* good, and good value... 🙂

I usually get beef burger, chips and a pint for £6.50, i think, in the market, but neither of their chip fryers were working.

Im not convinced about the beer,  the indian style lager was £4.50, it was  OK. I tried the beer last week, it was OK.

Back on subject, i tried to get advice on the water resources notification (1 to 24 closed today),   ended up asking for ten day overstay by email due lack of water upstream. I tried on the overstay CRT form, but they did not give this as an option :)

Yep 👍

it’s quite a space there and enough room for 2 to 3 boats,

when I was stuck there I moored right on end (furthest from bridge).

Great mooring with easy walk to Morrisons and the  pub,

nice and safe too,

did you know the bollard has a CRT padlock (it did 5or6 year back) so you can have your delivery van pull right up to boat,

honestly, I don’t know why folk have a home mooring 😉

So, at the moment if you are in the North West and want to go south the only option is on the Manchester Ship Canal from Pomona Lock to Ellesmere Port then south on the Shroppie. All three Pennine crossings are closed.

I thought the L&L was open?

Newlay Locks still have a blown cill. There's also a swing bridge that is closed but I suspect that won't take long to fix.

This is at the top of the CRT Overstay Request page:

NB: You do not need to apply for an extended stay due adverse weather conditions where there is a named storm, met office weather warning, or where we have drought or high water levels.. You also don't need to apply where we have unplanned stoppages. These instances will already be recorded.

If only!  The cc'rs trapped south of Wilmcote Top lock on the South Stratford since January (and it's not expected to reopen until June) have all received overstay notices.  Utter muppetry as usual from CRT.

True, my one and only overstay (rescinded), was when I had a stoppage immediately ahead and water resources behind.

I just put that 10 day overstay request cos I wanted to see what would happen. Needless to say water resources closure kicked in on my Day14!

I could not get advice from the call centre and she declined to give me Regional Licencing contact details. [ I have them from previous stoppages]

I think its very likely I could get stranded if I took the brave man's decision to leave the mooring. Its a one day mooring ......

Last time it rained here was 30th March when it put down the huge amount of 0.2mm of rain, the smallest amount I can measure.  The total for March was 22.8mm. It did nearly double that in Feb at 44.3mm and January was almost wet at 100.6mm We have actually had some clouds today the 9th April for the first time since the 4th April.

Last year, by this time we had had just short of 400mm of rain, which is more typical? I live about 10miles due west of Tod, so expect similar rain patterns.
I will be expecting the L&L which has not opened yet to be closing soon.
The weather is due to break on Saturday with about 1/2 inch due on Sunday the ground a bit wet! We may have got up to an inch by Good Friday, depends which weather forecast you believe!

You might be there for a few days or even longer. If weather is dry and warm then the wharf can get lively at weekends with Golden Lion overspill. This can go on all night. Its mostly at the pub end but people might visit your end for a wee, a smoke, or even sex on the bench (thats right outside your boat)😀. There is little trouble but if all night noise bothers you then it might be better to move to the other side. If you are still lighting a fire then go to either end rather than the middle so that you are not right below the house. There have been complaints in the past though I think the owners might have changed now.
