Armed with that surprising eco tidbit, I shall henceforth be smugly displaying my recycled rubber fenders when cruising to virtue signal my green credentials.

Thank you for all your replies, I didn’t think there would be such heated replies. It’s a good job I didn’t mention stove fans and composting toilets, although I’m not sure how I could have done that. Maybe next time, thanks again.

The only valid use we found for those that with the boat when we bought it, were to drop down deep enough to provide some fendering against the Shropshire Union Shelf.

Otherwise they stayed in the locker until deployed when the boat was placed with the broker for sale. 

We picked up one on the prop on the Hurleston flight, and had a bit of a tussle with the vollockie when we pulled over in one of the short pounds to investigate and deal to.

We were interrupting his sequencing.

Not my first choice as a fender but useful nevertheless mooring against concrete and wide locks - and i would leave them down when I'm on the move too (feeling argumentative this morning)
