No....you didn't let him down. I remember staying on board and how supportive you were of each other. With you working hard each day and Dave looking after the boat....you were a great team. It's not you. Time is what let's us down and we all optimistically hope for more. I know....it happened to me....but we did it. There are many that only dream. Bob

The queue for chips was well into next week when I was last in the museum, so used one in Tipton which proved very good and saved a few bob. Tipton is worth a visit 👍 Lots to see and do.

Sorry gents the full name is the Rinnai REU 58E, sorry if there is any confusion. I bought a reconditioned one off Paloma Bob around 3 years back and have 8 alltogether.

Removing instant gas water heater

It cost me £13 by UPS at the start of the year to send to Paloma Bob. Took me 15 minutes to package it with Cardboard. You can see Bob is offering a replacement Rinnai heater for £15 carriage on ebay. Bob has offered to cover the cost of carriage in any case so I’m not sure what you are getting at? If I lived closer I would take the trouble. I hope you would too. Will need to wait till around 2026 I guess to pick it up from the canal near me. Carriage using couriers is not that costly if you look around. -
Yes, I completely understand, no criticism was intended by my remark. If Bob is not interested that is entirely up to him. I'm just looking for someone else to take it off my hands. I'll need to stop for diesel in a week or so; maybe someone at the marina will want it - the bloke who took it out wanted it but I said "no" not realising the up-coming problem with Bob.

And they deal with migrant boats too, unlike the UK. I sometimes wish my ancestors had been criminals or had 10 Bob back in the day. I wish CaRT would have the b@ll@cks to deal with problem boaters like this👍

DIY/Builders merchants canal side

Just planning for the winter and have been racking my brain/memory, and I can’t think of anywhere. This winter I want to catch up on a few jobs, and without a car I’m looking for canal side DIY places. Area: BCN, Staff and Worcester, Trent and Mersey (Stoke area), Coventry. The Birmingham and Worcester. Home delivery is not on my agenda, it’s small projects I’m doing. And I’m the sort of person who buys the wrong size bits and bobs or forgets the bits and bobs and has to go back and forth. For example there must be somewhere on the BCN where I can go get an 8x4 sheet of ply and simply carry to boat? A Jewsons, Wicks or whatever? Or small independent? Any ideas? Thanks 👍 -
Quite a few gas engineers will remove the heater for you to send off to Paloma Bob, he is excellent. However is it something simple like the pilot light not staying on or igniting the burner? A careful clean with a tiny paintbrush or small toothbrush may be able to sort it?

hydrogen boat with UK fuel cell completes testing

Biggest load of bollox, the boat has never moved from that mooring since it came to get the hydrogen system fitted, has never been along the canal anywhere. Hydrogen refuelling pod gone, boat a big waste of time and money, all paid for by GOVT funding, boat now just sat there. Will show some photo’s in the morning. One million pound£££ 😂 someone’s had a few bob in their pocket that could of funded a few repairs or some dredging on the canal system. -
A few months? Maybe I've just been lucky. My IKEA butchers block beech workshops have had 18 years of liveaboard use and are still unstained or darkened and just as good as when they were first installed. Decent quality and laminate worktops is a contradiction in terms in my opinion. Unless you're still stuck in the 1970s with Bob & Thelma.

Help I put Oil into the wrong place (Air valve)

Nay lad. It's a pre engage starter. The pinion shunts into the ring gear teeth first and then it turns. Done to prevent ring gear damage as what could happen with the old inertia starters. Remember Ford 105E's ect. Wouldn't mind a bob for every ringear I've renewqed on those and early Cortina's. -

yep which is why i bought a reconditioned one from Bob. The D61b was replaced by the Italian made-just with a Morco sticker on it-EUP6 which has actually been very good but this to is discontinued. Not much on the market for Battery or Piezo ignition water heaters now.
