  3. Me too, I would like to know the answer to this, can anyone help? Martyn1, ChrisB, Bizzard, Tony Brooks etc.? Regards Ditchdabbler
  4. Landlady and myself will be there in my little ship Goldie, please do say hi if you see us. :-) Regards Ditchdabbler
  5. I apologise for any comments that might have been broadcast, it is not the ethos of the club.. BTW I do not like cb radio on the cut and I do not use it. I will mention unacceptable behaviour at our next general meeting. Regards Ditchdabbler
  6. Thank you so much for acknowledging that we cruise on the slow side, we are often accused of being throttle happy. Much appreciated! Regards Ditchdabbler Commodore Lionhearts Cruising Club
  7. They do say otherwise but fail to explain how they help or what purpose they serve whilst underway. Anyone care to explain?
  8. Perhaps have the collar cut out and a new one welded in.
  9. The manufacturer, according to my manual, recommends a rebuild at 6000 hours. Martyn Pitman of Marine Power Services once told me he rebuilds many LPWS motors at about 4000 hours mainly due to neglect of oil changes. My own LPWS3 has just done 4100 and is now burning oil, approx half a litre per 50 hours. I have a complete service record for the boat from day 1 and the oil/filter has been changed religiously at 100 hours. Be interesting to see how much toward 6000 hours it gets before serious attention is required :-) Regards Ditchdabbler

  12. Passed the 'Cheddington wreck' over the Easter break. Diver in the water and plastic sheets put round the hull. The folk involved seemed to think they have a good chance of raising her.

  14. Where are you and how far are you prepared to travel? Edited for spelling. Regards Ditchdabbler
  15. Spiders are our friends. If spiders are living on your boat, as they do on mine, they must be feeding on something. I would be more worried about whatever they are feeding on becoming a nuisance rather than the spiders. Also spiders do not generally live in damp areas so spiders do indicate a nice dry boat. 17. Another vote for Black Jack. Also it us suitable for use in drinking water tanks. Not all "blacking" is suitable for permanent immersion in water so do check out your blackings suitability before you apply. Regards Ditchdabbler
  18. Just installed a 40ltr Surecal and can confirm they come with a 4 bar prv. Also they require an expansion vessel in the hot circuit. So far the thing seems ok, Surecals Matthew Battle was very helpful with my idiot queries during installation. Regards Ditchdabbler

  21. If your calorifier has a non return valve on the cold Inlet (such as Surecal) an expansion vessel (different to an accumulator) on the hot out is preferable to prevent water exiting the pressure relief valve as it expands whilst being heated. Regards Ditchdabbler
  22. The op says the pump is not kicking in but the overflow is continually dripping. How can thus be? I wonder if they are using an immersion heater off a land line. Regards Ditchdabbler
  23. Go for the most robust gearbox you can afford. PRM boxes are generally pretty good. Talk to forum members Chris-B who works for the company that marinises the engines and Tony Brooks who has forgotten more than most of us will ever know. Regards Ditchdabbler
  24. Very sad. Landlady and myself only got to know him recently but liked him very much. He will be sadly missed. Regards Ditchdabbler
