Most of it was a bloody good week-end. I was happy to hand over steering to Richard Parry when it was raining on Sunday morning.

Hi The pic is just going into Uxbridge Lock - we left there Sunday afternoon and I left the boats on Thursday afternoon at Bruanston. The boats are unloaded having just finished a coal run. They are returning to Alvecote for winter - I think they arrived either Saturday or Sunday. As to the web site I am unsure what the situation is with it. I had a very enjoyable 5 days - hard work but good fun. Maggie Yep

We have loved the Chesterfield - tonight we are just past Clayworth - West Stockwith tomorrow and maybe a walk along the banks of the River Idle - we go back onto the Trent on Saturday. Will we come back --- yes we will. Its been great. Maggie

Hi Pete I move boats for Nottingham Boats Sales and they are no longer at Castle Marina. They moved at the end of last year to 200 Meadow Lane, Nottingham. NG2 3HE. They have boats both on hard standing and on the river over 50 at the moment. I am on my hols at the moment on the Chesterfield Canal but I saw this today and rang the office. James has explained that due to customer feedback they are changing their phone system and thats why it has been harder to get hold of them. Anyone is more than welcome to call James on 077209 71385 and he apologises for the trouble you are having contacting them. They are working to get it sort asap. some background Nottingham Boat Sales were the orginal brokers at Castle Marina and have been in business for nealy 20 years. Since they moved to Meadow Lane David Mawby has started to sell narrow boats as Castle but it was Nottingham Boat Sales who were there until last year. Maggie

We were certainly not impressed with the guy on Torksey Fri/Sat. Took ages to contact him on Friday and yes on Saturday am as he locked us down he said he was on a spilt shift and was knocking off after he had put us thru. All the other lockies from there onwards were great.

I have just spent a week on a boat move with Denis - one boat from Beverley down the River Hull and the Humber and onto the Tent - then picking up at second boat in Lincoln and on into Nottingham. Both boats had not moved for a very long time and there were a few engine problems but Den sorted them. I was very impressed. Den I don't think visits the forum very often but if you which I can pass on contact details. Maggie ps would i do the Humber again? you bet I would.
