  1. Is it possible to drain the calorifier & then pressurise with air (being careful not to over pressurise) - you may then be able to use a liquid leak detector by bubbles to locate the actual leak ? springy
  2. IIRC a "woodburner only" will burn its fuel on a hearth - no grate, - mine has a layer of firebrick, coal (& derivatives I presume) needs a grate to provide bottom air to maintain the burn, many multifuel stoves have an adjustable grate which can be virtually closed off for wood only. springy
  3. Industrial HA2 https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Lister-HA2-Electric-Start-Diesel-Engine-19-HP-1500-RPM-Runs-Perfectly/352462963116?hash=item52106e01ac:g:yUEAAOSwHShbng9i springy

    Fridge.

Is that just a vent, ? It looks rather like the exhaust for the gas flue for a three way to me. springy
  5. If they are calor bottles then they are a 6Kg fill on Propane versus 13Kg, or 7Kg Butane versus 15Kg, The gas is also proportionally more expensive. In addition they seem to have changed their rules on exchanges between sizes slightly and to swap a 13 for a 6 you should have to cash in your 13 and take a new agreement (£40) for the 6Kg. On the other hand they will give you £7.50 each for unwanted bottles regardless of size. springy
  6. I'm pretty sure this is a factory marine engine. springy
  7. Something a little different - Coventry Godiva & gearbox https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Coventry-Diesel-Godiva-marine-engine-SCG-gearbox/173527458909?hash=item28670ae45d:g:pOwAAOSwqmdbls8N springy
  8. IIRC the Gelcoat is a layer of the same plastic monomer & activator mix with the required pigment added which would normally be painted on the inside of a mould (after a good waxing) the fibreglass (or other reinforcing material) is then laid over this with more monomer / activator mix worked into the matting up to the desired thickness and allowed to cure. As such the gelcoat is not really a separate layer but an 'integral' part of the fibreglass structure, although if cut with a saw a transition from the pigmented gelcoat to the clearer colour of the standard unpigmented resin can be seen, I have seen gelcoat can be applied onto an existing surface (for repairs etc) but it would be the same monomer/activator/pigment mixture, getting a high gloss finish really needs a waxed mould. (All based on 20-30 year old knowledge so current materials may have changed) springy
  9. Latest report - stoppage now extended to 6pm 13th July, things are happening on site, but the towpath closure makes pics difficult, they have now excavated the towpath and two pre formed pipe sections can be seen in the yard. springy
  10. We went up the flight sunday afternoon & came back down yesterday with no problems at all, on sunday there was a fair sized group of people drinking around the bridge & lockside but were no problem & were all well clear of the "operating area" of the lock, 8:15 am yesterday was probably a bit early for them. Praise to C&RT for keeping the flight operational. springy
  11. Went up the flight yesterday - no problems apart from some floating debris, however CRT_Lee twiitter feed today reports that the top lock was attacked again last night, gate collar removed & gate tipped, repaired again now springy
  12. Lovely brickwork, anyway back to our little job - machinery working today - towpath now closed & excavated - presumably to connect on to the existing culvert and on the bank is a pipe section which probably answers the earlier questions as to the material chosen for replacement. springy
  13. Struck again last night, Lee Bates C&RT tweet today - chains / padlocks cut & water run down flight https://twitter.com/CRT_Lee springy
  14. 1 page guide here http://www.soliftec.com/Boat Stoves 1-page.pdf springy
  15. Some years ago I had problems with a 1.8 which had some similarities to your symptoms, I eventually tracked my problem to a crack in the lift pump body. springy
  16. Disappointingly you are probably right in reference to the skill set of the people actually on site and 'its not the way its done now' but I'd bet that either WRG or CRT could put together a gang of brickies who could do a good job. springy
  17. On site again - the excavation is now a bit deeper, probably about ready for the replacement springy
  18. I wondered that ... but if ST is happy to pay for the repairs then ... springy
  19. Just had a quick look at nls maps - 1901 rev pub 1903 25"/mile shows very little development in the area, apart of course from the "Canal Tavern" adjacent to teeces br. there appears to be a clear line north of stoney lane which I would take to be the line of the stream, I guess the culvert could be "Original" http://maps.nls.uk/geo/explore/#zoom=18&lat=52.6267&lon=-1.9929&layers=168&b=5 later revisions also show very little development of the area north of stoney lane but 7th series (55-61) shows some development south of stoney lane edited to add - restricted opening hours now on ryders green locks - closed 4pm - 8am due to vandalism springy
  20. Today on site - work progressing at a pace - access road laid, culvert excavated, as I left another pump was being placed to clear the water from the actual culvert excavation springy
  21. I doubt the canal slopes, but the water will - the canal is fed at the 'top' from the river, and the locks will draw water so the water will 'slope' down - how much will depend on how much is feeding in and how much is being drawn or flowing down the bywash. As I remember the narrow section just before llangollen can be quite hard work against the current, but you get a good run on the way back. springy
  22. Had a quick look at the site this evening - some pics follow, work obviously progressing - I guess the pile alongside the collapse is to be made into the platform for any equipment to excavate the culvert, we also now have a 4" pump alongside the 6", but they are now feeding in the wolverhampton direction, fortunately there's plenty coming from chasewater. springy
  23. Went & had a quick look earlier - plenty of activity in the plant yard, & they now have a 6" pump installed moving water from south to north, or is that east to west, or ??? - anyway its coming our way - got to be good. Some pics Yellow tennis balls appear to mark the line of the culvert Flow into culvert Prep Teeces Br (south side/west side/wolverhampton side you choose) - probably a couple of inches down Grove basin 4"-6" down springy
  24. Being sat on the bottom is unlikely to damage a steel boat ( unless something small & hard finds a soft spot), what is more possible is that sitting there for a few weeks you will be more "stuck in the mud" and low well deck drains could possibly be caught as the level rises again - unlikely but possible. Wooden boat or wooden bottom - be ready with a pump ! - you might not need it and it things may even improve, but ... springy
  25. A few pics from this evening - on site the depression resulting from the collapse can be seen, its a bit less obvious on the pics Usual debris Slight depression line between pallet bottom left and the single plank springy
