  4. At Foxes its 15p per unit plus a Standing charge of £2.35 per month. I use a round a tenner per month. If you are paying 28p per unit your be taken to the cleaners. Ask the marina to prove what rate per unit they are being charged by the power company, They have to do so by law. Firesprite Back in the Office overlooking the misguided busway with its empty buses going passed

  10. Try a mult-voltage laptop psu from any good computer shop and use the plug that fits your TV and set the voltage to suit. Mapin, You may find one cheaper on ebay. Or just fit a longer cable to the TV. Firesprite In the wet and windy Fens
  11. Yes the `Speedy Fox`, With most day hirers, When the lads from the yard and the boat is out of sight of the yard. It`s all head full and damn the torpedoes. You being just up from the lock, The lady of the lock may have had words with crew if she spots them speeding towards the gates. Many try to go to far in day, early in the summer the day boat come in at just before 10pm (They had raced round the Fenland Ring). Speeding passed Waterman Club Yard is now such problem,That they now have torpedoes to deal with the speeders you have been warned. Firesprite In the wet and windy Fens

  14. It depends on the type of mooring and if you have sole use of it, Than you pay council tax on, I do and having just been re-banded from A to B under the new rules brought in by "Grabber Brown", Because I have a waterside view I go up a band. I live on a boat for two good reasons, 1) I hate the pain of moving house and having to settle in to a new home. 2) I get a better nights rest. One last thing Darren which paper do you write for?. As I smell a reporter. Why else do you require people to reply by email instead of the forum. Firesprite In the wilds of the Fens
  15. From the pic it was by the old pumping Station. About a mile and a half downriver from the City Centre. Had a look while riding back to the station. No sight 0f it on the top 3 miles of the river. Firesprite Back in front of the Fire in the wilds of the Fens
  16. Here we known when the day boat is back, When it hits the concrete head on at full speed with a loud bang. One of theses days it going to come over the top, Than across the grass and through Foxes French windows if not the marquee next door. If Neil is reading this, Odds on he has his fingers crossed as he has a do in there tonight. Firesprite In the wilds of the Fens
  17. You be better off using a Jiggle Siphon. With it no need to hold a heavy can while pouring. Just pump and go do something less boring instead. Be warned walking down the road with this and a jerry can, May result in you helping the boys in blue. Firesprite In the wilds of the Fens
  18. At least your 5 miles closer to Peterborough than I am. I can see the price on pump from my mooring and clearly hear the yell`s of `How much per liter` just after someone`s filled up. Firesprite On the Job
  19. I known for a fact that `Hugh` runs his Land Drover on the waste oil from his cafe. As does Col Strawbridge down in deepest Cornwall. The route of Cambridge` busway of death (all roadkill trapped and than flatten) stinks of three day old take aways from the chip fat used by the buses. Firesprite On the Job

  23. That not a new idea. It`s been around for years. Firesprite At the office, In the heat of the night.
  24. I would add to that, The engine should be cold when you start it (If its warm, it may be hard to start from cold) No blue smoke when running and no knocking sound which goes away when you speed the engine up. A large can of `Easy Start in the engine bay is a bad sign. Firesprite
