  1. all the ones i’ve noticed fitted to boats seem to be facing dead ahead, perhaps thats part of the problem?
  2. This post cannot be displayed because it is in a forum which requires at least 10 posts to view.
  3. that’ll be fun for Silsden, Snaygill & Pennine Cruiser boats then if they have to book for Bingley, i guess they’ll add Foulridge to that list before long then
  4. assuming the apostrophe signifies a dropped H, that would give you Hortulanus other than that i’ve got nothing
  5. its an area called Colne Bridge in Huddersfield, and it’s Colne Bridge Lock 2 on the Hudds Broad and also Colne Bridge 3 in Colne Bridge (perhaps it should be Colne Bridge Bridge?). Its quite near where the River Colne joins the River Calder.
  6. was looking through some old slides from my mums and came across these two, not the best quality and i've cleaned them best i can, thought someone might be interested in seeing them if they know the area
  7. easy tiger, you'll have to buy me a few drinks first
  8. speeding away from the scene of the crime?

  10. i'd say door rubbing strip too low for an Escort, it's deffo rocking a vinyl roof, Vauxhall Cavalier or Morris Marina maybe?
  11. i really need to get my mind out of the gutter
  12. the clue is in the right hand window
  13. it's the way the bloke looks totally unfazed, like it's a regular day and that's how everyone moors, i'm assuming it wasn't alcohol he was under the influence of?
  14. i think a lot of it has to do with how you use the bell. steady speed, bell ring, stony face and no change of pace as they barrel past = wrong slow down, bell ring, smile on face and a cheery greeting, wait until everyone knows what they're doing, make way slowly past with perhaps an exchanged pleasantry, thank them and on your way = how i roll but you still get some who're determined to be offended no matter what you do.
  15. "Tenders are small boats that are easy to lift out of the water and are just for getting from the main boat to the river or canal bank while within sight of the main boat. If your tender is less than 3m long and it is normally carried on your boat or towed behind it, and only used to and from your main boat then you don’t need a separate licence. But, please make sure your tender is clearly marked with “Tender to YOURBOATNAME" and your boat's index number. If you use your tender for any reason, or if it’s longer than 3m or cannot easily be lifted out of the water and stored on the main boat, you'll need to buy a boat licence for the tender." so i guess as long as you fit the size criteria, slap your boat name on it and don't move out of sight of your boat you'll be golden?
  16. reminds me of this, circa 1988, art school trip to Paris, taken at Calais
  17. British Canoeing membership @ £45 covers you, or a CRT only one is £51

  19. still got their Trumpton Riots EP somewhere
  20. a skateboard would be cheaper, but falling off would be more painful. also not so good on canals with lotsa locks
  21. having been a victim of that i'd happily give a free wild swimming lesson to anyone i caught doing it, but i'm sure you're a clever lad who can use special blackthorn that can tell the difference between Strava hunting idiots and considerate cyclists or kids out with their parents.
  22. i was going to recommend Mouldex, but after looking at the label you don't want to be pumping that into the canal
  23. its worrying that in the current climate some rose tinted spec wearing dreamer looking for a “staycation” will buy it
