In our old boat a piece of 2 X 1 managed to get through the grill and snap one blade off the prop. Neither the shear pin or drive pin broke.
The drive pin is fitted into the shaft first, with the hole needing to be horizontal or it simply falls out. The prop then fitted so the cutouts shown locate over the sticking out bits of the pin. Then the two white bits of plastic are located over a grove in the shaft and pushed together and secured with the screws.
I did mine out of water. Wouldn't want to try it through a weedhatch.
We have moored at Sale many times. There are some rings opposite the pub carpark although there is a fair bit of goose shit about. There are also some spaces on the car park side.
These 2 are moored in front of me. Unfortunately a bit far away at Hilgay on the River Wissey. Besides these 2 the EA have at least 5 smaller ones on the Great Ouse river system.
Mine are on telescopic brackets and do tend to rattle in some winds so I have to lye them flat and tighten the bolts.
With mine being mounted in pairs on a widebeam roof, one is facing one way and one the other. It does make a difference if I angle one side at night ready for the early morning low sun but an awful lot. However in the marina in winter the boat is moored with the bows pointing East and tilting the the left hand/north side panels does make a noticeable difference.
When we hired from Selby I thought that most of the boat club members in the North East were prats but on our own boat we were offered the use of his empty mooring by a SIBC member. Found they were actually quite a nice bunch. But that was 14 years ago.
We've used Craftinsure for several years. I periodically get other quotes but they are always competitive.
But, have never made a claim do not experience there.
We went up Burwell Lode of the River Cam a month ago. A boat had just come from the end and presumably cut a lot of the weed back but returning next day we had 8 visits down the weed hatch in the 3 mile length. As you say, putting it in reverse didn't do much. The weed didn't just wrap round the prop but around the tiller stock and up into the tube it sits in. And then there was the mass of blanket weed that built up at the bow necessitating Jeannette standing in the well deck with the boat hook dragging it off.
I might be stupid but going up again September.
Would have thought not. Like motorbikes.

Has been that way for several years. When we ran petrol stations in the 80s on my annual visit to the bank manager he would go through how the charges were arrived and always stressed the amount if cash we paid in. I recall at one point cash businesses were paying in the cash to a Post Office account, which was free, and then transferring it to their bank account.
Got mine from here. Already assembled. Just had to drill hole for the pin and fit the wooden handle.

That's what happened to us in early 2009 when they had refurbished the lock over the winter. 4 boats, first went into the lick and bottom gate wouldn't close. So we all had to wait until the tide made a level and went one after the other. Except we were Tailend Charlie and the boat in front misjudged and got stuck against the tyre fenders. No fun trying to stay in the middle of the channel whilst the mud banks each side are getting bigger.
You need to be careful going through the navigation arch on the far right as the stream will try to push you into the reeds. Many boats take the downstream arch instead.
Carefully of course!
Probably Hemingford as mooring for Houghton not so obvious.
Visit both Godmanchester and Huntingdon on the way back then.
Opposite GMC lock is Farm Hall which has a lot of history from WW2 and the church has some interesting headstones. In September the Cambridge Arts Theatre has a play based on the story of Farm Hall.
Huntingdon for a big shop. Sainsbury's, Aldi, Lidl and M & S and visit the Cromwell museum and admire the Town Hall.
I foolishly filled at Cathedral Marina in Ely 3 weeks ago without checking the price. £1.88 at 60/40.
There were 3 overstayers there for some time but down to one on our last visit. Plus a couple if boats that seem to be switching between the GOBA and Waterbeach moorings.
We've been to Cambridge twice in the last couple of months and surprisingly have been the only boat in the visitor moorings each time. (Apart from a small cruiser obviously overstaying) Perhaps this is due to so many local boaters refusing to pay for the Anglian Pass. We intend to visit again in September. Must get as much value as we can for the £112.
The pump price here at Hartford is £1.40.
I had the builders fit a low profile vent in the roof above the hob and continue the line of overhead cupboards with a void above the hob. The fitted a small car radiator fan on a ply board with a resistor to give 2 speeds.
