  4. With a 12 month warranty, yet Aldi have a 3 year warranty!
  5. Had an XS inverter from Aldi some years ago and it ran well for TV, Laptop and a few other low powered bits. Bought one of their 12/230v TV's last year and it runs well on 12v or mains.
  6. For the money I would take it. it will give hours of fun and also help in the setting up of the controller
  7. Not been (on a boat) but would like to from what I have seen when walking the area
  8. Ring O' Bells by bridge 2 on the Macc is dog friendly and does reasonable food along with Robinsons cask ales
  9. Similar to my setup. I have a double pole DC switch between the panels and controller and a battery isolator (and fuse) between the batteries and controller all switched in the order as above. Makes any maintenance a piece of cake.
  10. Cannot fault this product, just recently fitted in a bathroom, easy with 'no more nails' and has a good degree of flexibility so should be fine on a boat. https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B009P63K52/
  11. My advice would be to consider doing the ring anti clockwise thus taking the water with you when traversing the Ashton Canal, its not unknown for some of the pounds to be low. There should be no problems on the Lower Peak Forest with the best overnight mooring being just beyond the swing bridge at Dukinfield. This gives a full day to do the Ashton, mooring at Piccadilly Basin before the Rochdale 9 unless of course you do good time then straight on to Castlefield. If you need water there is a point adjacent to lock 18 on the Ashton, next point being YMCA arm at Castlefield followed by Agden on the Bridgewater.
  12. If the bars cannot monitor their street furniture then it should be secured or the city licensing should take action against the bars and refuse a licence for street drinking, after all this is a public street. The city centre spokesman, Pat Carney, makes a big fuss about this in the news but is all piss and wind.
  13. And it's also a shame that the city council who are responsible for the licensing cannot enforce the bars to look after their furniture that they put out for the punters.
  14. Good news for boaters on the Macc and beyond. The wharf has been a little tired of late and fresh blood, some young and older (Brian!) should make this a roaring success. Good Luck to all.

    Congleton

Usually for me and SHMBO around two hours if some are set in favour of our direction.
  16. Can't fault the Aldi fishermen wellies, have a pair at home for dog walking along the canal and also a pair on the boat. Tried all sorts over the years and these are the best.
  17. I should think that some time in the future this will be restored as provision for through traffic was made at the marina at Fairfield Junction
  18. And if I remember correctly following the breach repairs the Bridgewater Canal Trust was formed to handle the day to day operation. What a toothless wonder this turned out to be.
  19. Astbury itself is about a mile from the canal although Astbury golf course runs from bridge 79 to Congleton wharf which is just after bridge 77. Better moorings at Congleton wharf and taxi from Canal Road adjacent to the wharf should do the job.
  20. Its a shame you are not so friendly to new boaters. The guy has had his boat about 7 weeks so this section is relevant as he is 'New to Boating' and for your education 'Equipment' and 'Living Afloat' are of even less relevance to his question.
  21. Cheshire East County Council are responsible for local closure NOT C&RT who must adhere to Traffic Regulation Orders. A few hours out of your life is not any great shakes.
  22. Don't agree with this. It is canalworld so therefore covers canal enthusiasts as well as boaters.
  23. We are waiting to get back to base from the southern side so we hope we don't get caught in the crush by the escapees from the northern side. Its probably going to be a bit like the M25 in rush hour.
