  4. Hey Spacebar - horse high - get off. Does it matter? you either will or you won't and others do and some don't. Chill......... Have you considered that some people always have a dog in their lives no matter what. some may have a dog when they go afloat. We have 2 and they will come with us. We took them on they are our responsibly ergo they come with us. Chill and make you own mind up as to whether you need/want one or not.

  6. It deliberately sets out to marginalise boaters by dismissing the rights and contributions of other interested parties. The waterways will survive by working with cyclists, walkers, anglers and canoeists, all who have effective and respected national organisations, unlike boaters. Perhaps we should acknowledge that there is plenty to learn from these people, instead of arrogantly dismissing them.

  7. Working fine for me too. I am a little confused though as to why there is no mention of this thread on Google for the first three pages, but an old thread from earlier this year appears on page 2?

  9. Ooh can I have a halo then? I'm in the same marina as phylis and fitted a holding tank precisely because I was not happy using the sea toilet my boat had when I bought it

  10. I made mine from MDF. Like pete23 I used a router to cut them out. The liners are simply polished aluminium - again very cheap and easy.

  11. Sorry Alex I wasn't being judgemental. Personally I think the whole concept of preventing CCers from CCing and then charging them for the inconvenience is wrong. I used to roll up to a stoppage and ask to be allowed through, daily, until the stoppage was lifted.

  14. Yes its a daft vent but not as daft as fitting a greenhouse to the back of a narrowboat. If ya scared of getting a bit damp buy an airfix kit they are designed for the non outdoor types and dont look absolutely ridiculous.....

  15. That is my experience too- it's usually the bottle that has a scratched or damaged seat. Please don't use washing up liquid for testing your bottle connection (or any other fitting) though-it's usually full of salt and sometimes ammonia which can cause rapid intergranular corrosion of brass with the result that the fitting just opens up like a flower. Proper leak testing fluid is quite cheap and easy to get hold of. N
