Restricted Moorings in Birmingham again

Featured Posts

The moorings up towards Cambrian Wharf are closed. Many of the Gas Street moorings are closed (those opposite the hotel).

The moorings by the arena (whatever its called now) are still ok but maybe when CaRT remove the floating market signs that will change. Suspect the plan is to prevent Tories seeing people living on boats, assume they must be having an event in the place offside towards Cambrian (and I really don't mean the Flapper).

Steel and concrete barricades appearing all over the place plus lots of 8 foot high fine mesh steel fencing. Oddly there is one of these fences erected right next to the Prince of Wales. I reckon the Tories are going to gather behind it to observe working class people going for a working class drink in a working class pub without any danger of accidentally making physical contact.

Perhaps its to allow Mrs Mays submarine to arrive in stealth mode?....Is that too political here? boat.gif

Could be right, while we were doing the market a couple of dodgy looking young blokes asked me how deep I thought the water was, its all falling into place now.

The only restrictions I am aware of is moving past the ICC. There will be one reserved mooring as the Heritage Working Boats Group have been asked to have a working boat on display.

Walked the dog up to Cambrian this afternoon, walked down to Tesco at the MailBox this evening, notices on mooring bollards at both locations. And not moving past ICC is a pretty big restriction. Still a lot of hire boats going through here too

They don't actually close it, they just control access and possibly put a dog on board to check the boat before they let you through.

I guess security will be extra tight at this time, but strange the mooring restrictions are not on the stoppages.

They're afraid of a floating Guy Fawkes! ?

Or maybe they'll all arrive by narrowboat to save the expense of limousines, taxis, helicopters etc. They'll all be moaning that they could have arrived 10 minutes earlier if The Bullet, Oops! HS2 was running!
