That's a lot of money for a business with a turnover of £180,000 pa. on a boat. Over £3000 a week. 48 covers.

I must admit the turnover figure of £180k very high. I can't see how it is done.

I agree. The turnover, if true, which I can't dispute, doesn't in my opinion, dictate a buying cost as advertised.

It's £500 a day for 7 days a week ... I'd want to see audited accounts showing that to be true

That's not what it says. It says gross profit. That's a technical term meaning sales less cost of sales. Net profit is the figure that counts (gross profit less all the other overheads, including staff wages IIRC), and they are silent on the point.

48 pax means an MCA inspection as a Class V small passenger vessel, yearly inspections, and a Tier 2 Boatmaster licence to drive it. Along with a fair bit of MCA paperwork, stability tests, etc.

 

Assuming of course the rules are the same for canals as non-tidal small rivers, which I believe they are.
