This will be my last topic because i do not believe this forum is about boats

Featured Posts

I have just taken my boat into a marina to have a bearing fitted on the prop. They phoned me today saying the bearing have gone in my gearbox and the engine mounts had broken off at the wield. I went to have a look the engine mounts were made of wood and the bearings in the box were ok they had just lined it up wrong. the reason i am telling you this is because if a marina that you trust tell you this you put your hand in your pocket. And they can be wrong.

just so you all know i am dyslexic

thank you

Whilst this is bad news clearly I don't understand the connection between the subject and the thread title...

What am I missing please?

The forum is not meant to be exclusively about boats......

Canal World Discussion Forums as been active since March 2001 and now has 15,000 members globally who contribute to lively discussions about all things canal related. The site also has a photo gallery, a links directory, private messaging, and instant chat facilities. Although predominantly UK based we have members from all around the world.

Anything where so many people with such widely differing view take part on any number of topics will inevitably result in some high quality posts and some dross.

Like those before me, I have no idea what the connection is between your post title and actual post content.

And your point is?

ETA: DH beat me too it!

my point was be careful when you take your boat in because they can be wrong and it will cost you lots of money.

the reason i will not be putting any more topics on is because i have been called a troll for ones in the past.

thank you

I agree, I thought dyslexia was getting letters mixed up not entire life stories

Adam, I think we should apologise for some of the posts you have received

I have experience of upsetting another dyslexic person on a different forum and am learning to not make assumptions about people from their postings

I don't always get it right

Clearly the OP's eperience at a boatyard has upset him (understandably, if his account describes the situation accurately), and he's mithered about it.

Go gently with him chaps - we can all recall when something so annoying has upset one's state of humour - - let's not bait him please.

Don't stop posting. Some on here have nothing better to do than troll hunt, even though they themselves become trolls by so doing.

Just ignore, and post as and when you please.

Apologise why?

I am merely tactfully and carefully asking for clarification, no one has mocked the apparent disconnection between title and content as far as I can see. If the reason is the OP,s dyslexia then fair enough.

It is all too easy to accept what a "so called" specialist says is wrong with your boat and pay out for work it does not need.

Well done for spotting that you were about to be ripped off. If everyone used this forum and other means available to them to get to understand their boats better then there would be fewer opportunities for the cowboys.

This forum is about boats, and other canal related topics. I have learned a great deal from this forum but also like to feel there are some things I can add to other peoples understanding on. We all have strengths and weaknesses. Dyslexia is no longer the barrier it used to be and when eople understand another disability they will usally make allowances for it. Although I have to say I do not find your posts particularly hard to rad or understand so I think you manage very well to overcome your problem Adam

I hope you will not leave the forum because of your experience so far

Looking back through topics the OP hasn't been called a troll because of his dyslexia, more that he posts one statement, often controversial or slightly odd, then disappears without saying much else.

Hi ya Adam,

i know where you are coming from, and obviously you got to do what you feel is best for you.

Have a read of this, just click on it -

http://www.canalworld.net/forums/index.php?showtopic=60448#entry1149674

Now all I will say, is I had LOADS of PMs from people that don't post on the Fourm after reading this thread, agreeing with most of what's said,

But if you decide to stick with it, it is SO worth it

in my opinion. There are Very good Knowledge and Helpful people on here that far out way the Name callers and antagonists.

I recently got called a Moron by one of the long time members of this forum. It's just the way

faceless people flex there muscles sometimes.

Stay, Lurk, Go whatever you decide,

Be safe.

I have made two posts on one of your threads. the first one was saying that I thought you were wrong and giving as a reason as to how I would have felt if it had been my material. When nothing much happened I made another slightly more critical post.

However when you corrected what I believe was wrong my final post was two words "well done"

If you say something that annoys or upsets me, or I think is incorrect I will say so, same as people say to me (some of them much more forcefully). If you need to, take a break, don't take things too personally, maybe do as Paul says..."Lurk" for a while

No muscle flexing at all.

You made a moronic post dragging up an argument from another, totally irrelevant, thread and I expressed my opinion about it.

I didn't follow it up or continue the discussion...it just wasn't worth it, so I was hardly "flexing my muscles".

I am also not "faceless" having met many people from the forum in real life.
