That is a terrible coincidence. Two boats sunk in a week. What is going on?

Very sad for the owners both of this boat and the boat sunk on the HNC.

Just been down to Weston Lock. BW in attendance. NB River Dancer caught on cill and bow is underwater. Looks a difficult recovery as access not good for a crane. The rudder is literally no more than 2 inches on the cill and the possibility of the boat dropping must be a concern. Really feel for the owners.

Drop the pound a few inches to expose the deck, big pump in the fore-end, then slowly fill the lock.

That's what I thought but If there's only a few inches caught on the cill you'd need to strap the stern tight to make sure it doesn't crash down as soon as the bow gets a bit of boyancy. That would be one hell of a crash.

Ah - perhaps we should consider another route for our trip starting Kings Bromley this Saturday afternoon. There will be a fair few boats waiting behind them I would think. If you see us on Savoy Hill say hi....

Aargh we're meant to be passing that way within the next few days! Is it worth our while going and waiting or should we take the massive detour (we're at the top of Atherstone on the Coventry heading for Loughborough on the Soar)?

Obvious sympathies to the owners of the boat concerned - our inconvenience is minor in comparison.

Such a sad sight to see a boat that is so obviously someone's pride and joy in that predicament. I do hope no one was hurt and they manage to get her refloated with a minimum of damage to the boat and disturbance and delay to other boaters wishing to pass that way.

Lock 4 Weston Lock Wednesday 17 August 2011 -Thursday 18 August 2011 UPDATE (18 August 2011): The boat has now been moved and no longer causing an obstruction, normal navigation is now possible. British Waterways

I think BW did very well to get it cleared so quickly and cause so little inconvenience to other boaters
