Athy
The liveaboard next door to us in Upwell put a tree (with lights) upo on his roof last week. Last weekend when we were on the South Oxford we passed a boat with a quite luxuriant tree taking up most of the foredeck.
wobbley
Surely there must be some law against this by now? Celebrating this festival may cause upset and offence to some, or many of the non Christian, eastern european fish poachers along the towpaths. I think more restraint should be applied in these wonderful days of multiculturalism. (invented a new word there) Has anyone seen any boats that celebrate Diwali. Eid, Passover, Yule etc,,,, - Hmmmm? pearley
Hi allFor several years now I've put a tree on Resolute for Christmas...here's the latest effort Dave You might have posted that at 2.36pm but not from the Waterfront at Brierley Hill as you left here on Saturday and didn't return till last night. Looking out through my front doors it does look nice but a pity it's not illuminated. We've got 2 small LED trees that run on batteries. We'll probably put the decorations up next weekend when we get back to Birmingham.

fuzzyduck
I'd use my tug deck (if i had one) to sacrifce virgins.... Does that count?

The tree actually is a celebration of Yule. If it was Christmas we'd have a nice stable scene. And has anyone ever, ever, actually met anyone who was offended by someone else celebrating a festival of any kind (provided it didn't involve ritual sacrifice?) Derek R.
Can't believe this was 25yrs ago - Yarmouth's 'Firewood cratch'. 'Pagans Yule - OK'. JC wasn't born in December, but so strong was the celebration of the returning Sun around the 25th, that the upstart Christian religion used it to their benefit. Think it was Prince Albert the Prince Consort who introduced the Germanic custom of trees and decoration. We like trees too, cut split and stacked to dry, ready for the stove . . Bah - Humbug! This was a cold one - Cotton line like concrete, ice five inches thick. That fender did us well - made by Joe Bridge in Skipton. Edited December 15, 2009 by Derek R. wrigglefingers
Very nice, boys. Cobbett's deck is currently festooned with a washing machine encased in a Jewson's sack bag in blue ...... After this show of enthusiasm, I shall invest on some Asda tinsel ....
