I think it is bridge 71 in the distance, and the boats will be S.E Barlow's who had a wharf fairly close to Glascote Locks.

 

If I'm right the bridge must have been rebuilt because it now has white painted balustrades.

Isn't it bridge 73 - now the "Co-Op bridge"? ie the first one you come to after Glascote basin heading your way.

On second thoughts no, delete that!

That's bridge 71, in it's original form, built 1908 on its parapet,  to the right of the young fishermen is what was Hopleys farm, if you stood where the picture was taken, you would be opposite what is now Torc Avenue. Lived in this area all my life.

Here is a modern photo of Bridge 71. You can see the raised brickwork on the parapets is the same, but now they are infilled with railings.

Nice to see that the towpath was in excellent condition both 70 years ago and now. Still being used by fish botherers and cyclists!

Yes. And all the boats moored on the non towpath side which is where they are supposed to be when not moving.
