The old boaters used to use names for things 

ie a pigeon box a box big enough for a pigeon a dog box a box big enough for a dog

some suggestions that on old ships there were extra cabins on deck where crew could sleep 'like sleeping in a dog house,' they had lifting flaps and bunks underneath. A separate room rather than light and ventilation for the main cabin.

Or is encapsulating a piece of leaded stained glass something any double glazing supplier can do?

 I would think so mine did it but it cost more old church stained glass needed to be given some care but at least it was saved
